According to a media report, BMW and McLaren are said to be joining forces to co-develop an electric supercar & a high-performance electric crossover in the near future.

Reports suggest that the partnership between the two brands could see McLaren launch an electric supercar, while BMW could introduce an electric crossover, which will be its performance flagship model. Both models, however, will reportedly share the same platform. They will rely heavily on the use of carbon fibre and have a target weight of 1,500 kg.

Details of the BMW model are still scarce. As per reports, the German automaker could end up with a roomy 4-seater with SUV overtones. It could rival the likes of the Porsche Taycan.

Reports also claim that the electric supercar from McLaren will come with four electric motors producing in excess of 1,088 BHP, making it the fastest production car from the British carmaker. However, it is unclear if the BMW electric crossover will also get the same powertrain.

Reports indicate a 2026 - 2028 timeframe for the unveils of the cars.
