Mumbai gets India's first biogas-powered EV charger

India's first biogas powered EV charging station is now operational in Mumbai. It has been set up by AeroCare Clean Energy Limited in collaboration with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).

The EV charger is located at Willingdon Club at Haji Ali. It can charge two vehicles at a time. The charger draws power from AeroCare's waste-to-electric power generation unit that was set up at Keshavrao Khadye Marg in September 2021. It generates 220 units of energy from household waste.

Re: Mumbai gets India's first biogas-powered EV charger

The strives that Mumbai is making in terms of the next-gen automotive trends is quite admirable. Really hope that such technology finds commercial use in trucks, autos etc.

EVs in Mumbai should see a bigger push especially given the fact that BMC has now set up their own EV for expediting policies and processes.

Re: Mumbai gets India's first biogas-powered EV charger

I wonder if the biogas treatment plant is modular in nature. In which case the company would very easily be able to scale their operations at multiple locations as well as the existing locations. If they are modular, they would also have a very small footprint.

In fact, residential complexes should come forward to get such units fitted in their own complexes, with the energy initially fed into their own grids while the demand for EV charging is low...
