Re: 2022 MG ZS EV Facelift Review

Already bought dashcam. Heard from MG service centre that there are airbags in both sides and taking wire to the back camera can be an issue. Hence thought of checking if some one has already installed dashcam in MG ZS EV

I opted for the dash-cam that was offered by the MG dealer as a part of accessories. This is only a forward facing one with no coverage of the rear. They have routed the power cable from the USB slot located near the wireless charger through the dashboard and A-pillar.

I have my first service scheduled tomorrow and have asked them if they can connect the dash-cam to the USB slot located on the rear view mirror instead.

Alternatively, you can ask the accessories store where you bought your cam, to install it? - provided this doesn't affect your warranty (ask your dealer to be 100% certain).

Had this issue also that's why was forced to go for a front dash cam only. Was offered a side and via the floor board install slightly visible wire install by my installer but opted out of it.

Re: 2022 MG ZS EV Facelift Review

I have dual dashcam installed in my car. I have not hardwired it. I am using the USB port available near the IRVM to power the dashcam.
For the rear camera, I have drawn the wire under the trim till rear seat and underneath the mats and up the infotainment system.

I was using similar setup in my earlier car as well. No issues and it can be removed when needed.

Few pics of my setup.

Re: 2022 MG ZS EV Facelift Review

This is how I've installed the dual channel dash cam myself. Added photos underneath.

1. Stick the camera to the rear windscreen. Run the rear camera wire directly into the headliner, leaving some extra wire dangling. This extra wire extends when the boot lid is opened.
2. Using the tool which comes with the dash cam, stuff the wire inside the panel gap, leading to the rear door weather stripping.
3. Remove the rear door weather stripping and run the wire through it. Again using the provided tool, the wire can be redirected into the panel gap above the side airbag module. I highly doubt if the wire is going to interfere when the airbag deploys as it's not in the way.
4. Run the wire throught the co-driver door weather stripping.
5. Finally, stuff the excess wire inside the headliner, above the sun shade and run the wire to the front dash cam.

I've been using this for the past couple of months and there have been no rattling noises or incidents where the wire has fallen off from any gaps.

MG service escalation process

Does anyone know service escalation contacts? Asking for a ZS EV user in Hyderabad. He has purchased it recently and ran into a big issue. Below is his full story as per his message to him. This actually is his message to local service center which has kept his vehicle for last 12 days.
‐---------------------
My ZS EV Vehicle* *got stuck in middle of the road abruptly on 25/7. All the four wheels of the vehicle got jammed (on 25/7 at 7:30 pm) and it doesn't move ahead and has to be towed away next day (26/7 at 5:00 pm). Luckily we were driving slowly due to rain and at that time no vehicles are following us.

*Reached out to RSA immediately and they weren't of much needed help.Informed lately about special equipment Hydra to tow it and advised us that major damages can happen and* it had to be paid by me. I didn't want to get more into the finer details of problems I had faced on that rainy day ,diverting* the traffic* whole night and next day till evening apologizing to fellow drivers.

It's horrible to even think* of the same scenario happening on a busy highway.

It's been with the service center from wednesday night(26/7/23) and they are still trying to figure out the issue.

My vehicle electronic parking brake got jammed with in a week after the delivery of the vehicle and it got released after a day and half by itself.

Its a brand new vehicle and as of today it's 95 days old and the Car has been with service center for 20 days for various reasons.

*I would like to bring this issue to your notice and hope you could thoroughly inspect the vehicle and figure out the root cause of the issue so that such sort of issue(life threatening) doesn't occur with any other MG Car's.

I have been reaching out to mg dealership balanagar everyday regarding the status of the vehicle. They had informed me that
they had throughly diagnosed the vehicle.
Verified and refitted all the connectivity cables,
Performed testing to check AC/DC battery is working fine or not and even checking 12V battery for validating the power output and resistance .Reprogrammed the software but was not able to figure out the issue till date and they informed me that they were swapping the components of the vehicle with test drive vehicle for diagnosing the root cause of the issue.

All sorts of R&D activities(removing and connecting cables, parts kind of refitting) are performing on my new Vehicle.
I have been facing issues with the vehicle from the beginning and the issues were not resolved it.Basically It's a defective Vehicle
and after all these R&D activities and refitments on my new vehicle i am not willing to take vehicle back even after the fix.

With in 90 days of purchase I had faced many issues. It had instigated fear in us by jamming in the middle of the road and I had lost faith in that vehicle.

We are not willing to drive that vehicle anymore and* is looking forward for a replacement.

Just want to bring it to everyone notice for awareness and throughly check with the servicecenter regarding the issues and had the contacts available with you handy.

‐------------

He wants to escalate this. Does anyone in this forum know any contacts?

Re: 2022 MG ZS EV Facelift Review

I fitted a dashcam in my sister's 2020 ZS couple of days ago. This doesn't have a USB slot behind the IRVM. I routed the cable via the roofliner ,A-pillar, behind the steering wheel to the USB slot below the centre console. The 12v socket is on the passenger side of the centre console.

What I was wondering was, is the USB slot and 12v socket powered only when the car ignition is on or always? I was thinking of leaving it connected always if it is powered only when the ignition is on instead of plugging it in and out every time.

I contacted them on twitter. No one replied. I called their office in Kolkata, but they were not aware where it could be obtained.

Re: 2022 MG ZS EV Facelift Review

Maybe Rada can give you some Legrand contacts as he was able to source the box.

However, when I approached Legrand through their Twitter handle, they were happy to offer me a readymade unit.

I tried getting it from Legrand, but they were least interested in selling. Got it from a local Tata dealer in Pune for around 7k. It is over priced, but looks and functions way better than a wooden/aluminium cabinet.
