MG India has launched the updated MG ZS EV.

Prices start at Rs 21,99,800 for the Excite variant, which will be available from July 2022 onwards.

The more expensive Exclusive variant is now priced at Rs 25.88 lakh, and is available from today.

Claimed range from the new 50.3kWh battery pack is 461km.



The motor has also been updated, and output now stands at 176hp and 353Nm. Claimed 0-100 in 8.5 seconds.

The ZS EV gets a new 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, in place of the older 8.0-inch unit, and a new 7.0-inch digital instrument cluster replacing the analogue dials.

The new ZS EV is available in four exterior colour options: Ferris White, Currant Red, Ashen Silver and Sable Black.

Thank you MG for not taking away the Excite variant despite all the rumours around. And a big thank you for giving a bigger battery and better interiors for a very small price increase.

Power has gone up, price is similar range like last year, variant split continues but with delayed arrangement.

Excellent. They are keeping the base Xcite trim available. It is going to offer excellent value against the Nexon EV with a 60% bigger battery, more features and a far better cabin for 25% more money.

I wish they launched the 73kwh battery in India. There is not even a mention of it. Its available in UK.

Anyway, Tata can now see how they want to price their new Nexon EV. In any case, Nexon will be cheaper and the choice for majority of the people. I want to buy an EV only as my primary car. For outstations I use flights and trains or hired cars. But I think it is still not a good time for EVs. I will, therefore, buy a second hand Creta/Altis for 10-12 lakhs and wait another 5 years before buying a brand new competent EV.

Good move by MG to retain the Excite variant and the pricing on the top end variant is not far off from the current numbers, we are looking at 27L on road pricing for the top end variant in Bangalore.

MG website has been updated with information about the new model but downloading the brochure still shows the old model. Also something I noticed is that the power has been increased from 140 hp to 170 hp but the 0-100 times is the same. Possibly an error? The old 140hp motor could do 0-100 in around 8-8.5 seconds as stated by MG and tested by various auto channels. When I called the local MG dealership, they too confirmed the increase in power but they have no test drive car yet so I will have to wait to find out.

Really good to know that MG has given the ZS a bigger battery. Now, this is a proper EV that can be used in a lot of real-world scenarios and cut out the fear of range anxiety to a certain extent. Even if the pricing has increased, it should be okay considering the almost 100KM range increase.

My guess is that the extra battery capacity comes with an increase in the weight of the car as well.
So the added power will be used to push the extra weight

My SA sent me a pic of the new ZS. It has arrived at the Malad showroom. No Adaptive cruise control. Price for the exclusive variant is unchanged at 25.88 ex-showroom. That is huge! Bigger battery, more features and same price.

Wow this is incredibly good pricing! Not sure what subsidies will continue but there will be the odd Astor customer who's swayed away by this

New pricing:-

As far as Chennai is concerned, the price increase is 1.2 L ex-show room (From 24.68L to 25.88L) for the Exclusive variant.

For the Excite variant, the ex-showroom price goes up by exactly 1.0 L (From 20.998L to 21.998L).

For both variants, the rated range goes up by 42 km (from 419 km to 461 km).

Please correct me, fellow BHP-ians from Chennai, if I'm wrong. Thanks!

Wonderful! Pricing seems to have been left untouched. Excite variant not axed, just deferred by a few months. MG has done a good job in my view.

No news of ADAS however! I would have loved to see ACC and AEB atleast. Also has there been any official communication regarding the 72KWH long range version?

Interestingly Excite Vs Exclusive comparison is not made available in brochure or website yet. So all we know is price and a date.

Excellent news. Very good pricing when we consider the bigger battery + new features + new interiors.
Now this is definitely in my Radar to replace my Figo S TDCi 2017 Model as I want a good EV.I will wait for Honda City Hybrid launch and decide between these two cars.
