Most of the so called bucket seat covers are installed same way, they cut the cover underneath to provide a flush fitting.

Unsure if I have to dive in and get the 2021 version or wait it out for 2022 version. When I pre-reserved the 2022 version I assumed that it would be either at similar price or 1 lakh more than current version but a a huge hike over current version would push it out of reach for me.
Is your dealer giving you this choice? My dealer said the 2021 model is completely sold out and our only choice is the 2022 model. If I were you I would wait a few weeks to see the new price.

Haven’t had that’s conversation with the dealer yet. As you rightly said, will wait till end of Feb for a hopeful launch of 2022 model and decide. If the price is jacked up beyond reach and 2021 model reservations are halted then I am left with no choice but to cancel my booking.

I am in the exact same position as you. The worst part is that if we cancel our booking and book the Nexon long range for instance the waiting period will be extended another 6 months. It is a bad time for car buyers now with the current waiting periods.

Just had a chat with the sales executive at MG who assisted me with the booking last month. Here are the points he stated

1. Bookings for 2021 version has been halted and production too as most 2021 bookings are converted/moved to 2022 version bookings now. Take it with a pinch of salt! Not sure how and why every customer

2. He claims the waiting period for 2022 version is around 7 months for Exclusive and 12 months for excite. Again, take it with a pinch of sale as I feel he is overhyping it.

3. He says that as per info he is aware of, the price hike would be around Rs. 1,00,000 to Rs. 2,00,000 and not beyond that, which seems to be good if it were true.

He has given similar timelines for my booking's waiting period as 2021 version bookings were converted to 2022 version bookings. I protested and called it unfair. What's the point of betting on 2022 version even before most did and paying booking amount for it? When I booked my vehicle on 05th Jan 2022, he said there were around 15 bookings only for 2022 version until then. So there is no way I might have to wait 7 to 12 months for my car, if that were true.

Will wait for official launch of 2022 version which is expected to happen this month, head over to showroom and get things clarified further.

Re: MG ZS EV | 5 Month Review

Great review and superb range achieved by your father! I have managed around 400 a few times but most of the time I get around 325 to 350. One small correction: the peak charge rate is actually 75KW, not 50KW. I have often charged at 60KW on 60KW chargers. In addition, there is no subsidy available on the ZS in any state as the subsidy is limited to vehicles costing less than 15 lakhs due to FAME guidelines. Road tax waiver is available in some states.

First of all, great write-up. Might get a notice from Mr. DeMuro himself.. I do love that acceleration and out on the highway i really like how fast you get back to cruising speed after a speed breaker. Additionally, the one pedal driving experience is a joy to experience. The car we have is in Coorg and on the hills it's just a pleasure to control it with just the accelerator.

With regard to the airbags i find it a little strange that your car got only four. We picked up the excite model around end July/early aug last year(2021 model).Basically MG confirmed that it was the first lot of excite 2021 models shipped around the country because they had just manufactured Exclusive models up to that point. Anyway, the only feature i wanted from the exclusive were the leather seats. But we confirmed the six airbags when we took delivery and hence the car currently has a leather seat cover(MG accessory offering) which leaves the sides open.

I find it really strange that for a few months in between MG just deleted this feature and now it's available again.

Side note-Have you tested the speed limiter on the car or tried to see if it goes beyond that.?

Thankyou! And I just realised, I have made a big oopsie. Apologies to all the BHPians who have tried telling me but I just tried 'correcting" them.
And thank you for telling me too. Excite indeed has 6 airbags
.

Pretty nice to know that your green car is in a green place!

And also, same here. All we wanted was the leather seats because his Highness, a Labrador, sheds a lot. Can you please attach a photo of your seat covers whenever possible?

Nope. Haven't really tested the speed limiter but we did spin it up to 130 kph!

Thanks and apologies to everyone for any inconvenience caused.

Again, thank you for your corrections too.

I found a relevant article. But it seems that when it charges at 76 kW, the rate plummets pretty quickly. It is stable at 50 kW

Glad you realised your mistake and hope you take the necessary steps to sort it out. Although I m not sure what kind of damage has been caused to the air bag in case they ve been punctured during the stitching process.

Have attached a few pictures of the seat covers made available through MG official accessories. Have removed the lower strap that goes around the seat backrest as that again will affect the seat airbag.

These are only available for the front seats. Then again you don't really have to bother about the leather covers for your back seats.

Re: MG ZS EV | 5 Month Review

Couple of concerns I would like some help with, would be glad to get any info

1. Did you increase your electricity meter's sanction load? If so, to how many KW?
2. What were the costs incurred to increase the sanction load, if done.
3. Did the increase in sanction load lead to increase in per unit cost for units consumed as well? Or the slab rates remained the same?

I have a 5KW sanction load for my electricity meter and have been advised today by the site inspection team that I need to increase it to 12KW as I am already consuming around 4kw.

Unfortunately, I cannot answer any of your questions as our sanctioned load is only 3 kW. We too were asked to increase it (only to 8 though) for a 6-8 hour 0-100% but we declined as
a) We might be moving to a different state this year.
b) We are perfectly fine with a 16-18 hour duration as we still have the i20 around.

However, they let us keep the charger without installing it. It is currently sitting in its original box.

Edit: How far is your booking process for MY2022?

Thanks

That makes sense. Will all the changes the site inspector suggested, I feel I should rather rely on 16A socket too.

My order status shows Order Placed on 21/01/2022. I am planning to move from excite to exclusive now so unsure if that will have a setback on the delivery timelines again.

Re: MG ZS EV | 5 Month Review

Great review. Its a practical EV with its 300+ km range.

One questions is do we account of resale value in to the cost of an EV? We will probably need the battery changed after 8 years and think over the time the 7.5lac cost is also going to increase. If you try to sell before the 8 years, the buyer will account the battery cost and if you want to sell later after you have changed the battery it cost you more than probably what you saved by then.

Thank you!

The cost of the battery will only decrease with time and not increase. Localisation will play a huge role in this regard.
The PLI scheme for batteries was passed by the Cabinet in May 2020.
Once the infrastructure is in place, it will become viable.

Besides, batteries now can retain ~80% of their original capacity after 500 charge cycles (0%-100%-0%) giving an estimate of between 1,50,000 km (300 km per cycle) and 2,00,000 km (400 km per cycle).

So, there isn't much reason to worry.

Re: MG ZS EV | 5 Month Review

Great review, this is probably the most practical EV in our market right now, range is just about right too.

I do have a very specific doubt, few reviews point out that brake feel is probably the only issue with the overall driving experience, how has your experience been so far?
