Re: A 1000+ km road-trip in an MG ZS EV

Can you please upload a few pics of interiors? I am unable to find the Excite version on display in showrooms.

I would like to see how the dashboard and the seats look. I would like to know if we get the following in excite version as well

1. Leather Seats,DriverArmrestWithStorage
2. Leather Wrapped Steering Wheel With Stitching
3. Leather On Door Trims and Dashboard

I am assuming only the leather seating is omitted and the above three are present in excite as well.

Thanks in advance.

Re: A 1000+ km road-trip in an MG ZS EV

After great struggle with Tata Motors, could finally get a test drive of Nexon EV and done with test drives.

Test Drive 1: MG ZS EV

Started from my home in our colony and went on to not so busy stretches of road through some high traffic junctions. It was effortless getting used to the car and I felt the drive was so seamless. Mighty impressed with how it handles the bumps on city road, the instant torque of EVs, seating and riding comfort.

Test Drive 2: Nexon EV

Started from showroom on a very busy road with peak traffic. Throughout the ride I struggled to get accustomed to it’s default KERS levels which felt kind of intermediate step between level 2 and 3 on MG. Sadly, Nexon EV doesn’t have an option of adjusting KERS levels. Even by the time I ended my ride, I still couldn’t get adjusted to the KERS levels and it felt quite stressful.

One other factor I noticed is the seating position which was more upright and strained my ankle joint. Nitty gritty – the horn location is plan terrible in Nexon.

Test Drive 3 – MG ZS EV

Realising how stressful it was driving Nexon EV in peak traffic, I requested and went back to MG motors to test drive ZS EV again but in peak traffic. Was pleasantly surprised how easily I could adapt to it even in peak traffic and throughly enjoyed the ride.

Decided to go with MG ZS Excite version and paid the booking amount today. But I intend to wait for the launch of 2022 version which is rumoured to be out in India in August 2022 as per articles online and April 2022 as per the sales person in showroom. It’s launched in Europe in November 2021. Either ways, I have no urgency and will wait for the updated 2022 version. I paid the booking amount to ensure I am given preference and early delivery once the new model is out.

Your assumption is correct. It is all the same. Excite gets fabric seats and no sunroof controls Everything else is the same. I have installed seat covers. You can try out the virtual car configurator on MG’s website.

That’s wonderful to know! Nexon’s non-adjustable regen was a sore point for me too. All the very best wishes for your new ZS and welcome to the tribe!

Thank you!

Any suggestions on where in Hyderabad I can get leather seating done for the vehicle that looks as good as the stock one? I know of ample interiors and accessories store that does it but not a fan of the look and finish in most places.

Honestly, I think you should just skip seat covers. The only reason we got them is because his highness who is a Labrador, sheds a loooot. Plus, wherever you go, quality of work is not as great as a factory fitted one. And here's the biggest red flag that I did not know about. They stitch through the seats puncturing it meaning that if you want to replace the seat covers, you have to put on another set. Thankfully ZS EV Excite 2021 does not have airbags in the seats (weirdly, 2020 does). If you still need seat covers, I would suggest you to wait for official ones or just make do with those of the Astor (which I think will fit perfectly given that yours will be the facelift).

Thanks

Attaching photos. Apologies for poor lighting.

Why not look at Stanley Automotive or something similar if the car does not have seat airbags ?

Searched on many websites. None of them have it for the ZS EV.

Just search for Stanley Automotive (or anything similar) showroom and call them. (They are in Jubilee Hills as per Google). They create custom seat covers for any car in different choice of leathers. As I have seen quality is top notch and stays good for years. But, they are on the expensive side.

PS : I have no association with them. Just suggesting.

I heard good things about them too. Just curious, any ballpark figure of how expensive these would be?

I may be totally off the mark here.
It used to cost around 40k for seats and steering cover couple of years ago.
