I have a small lotus pond with fish, but no ducks. They would be quite noisy. My neighbour has them.

re: I have a leash and want to get a dog | Got solar power, which EV? | EDIT: Nexon EV it is

I have done some research in great detail and here's my two cents on current EV scene in India;

1) The technology will evolve rapidly over the next 24 months. So wait till it does so.
2) Your usage should justify the premium you pay for a EV over a Petrol AT. Petrol AT being the nearest ICE comparable.
3) Range .. range and range - The affordable EV's in India (without naming) do not have adequate range. 200kms is nothing !
4) The charging infrastructure, although not a big deal-breaker is a matter of concern/
5) What complicates the problem further is the charging time on a normal charger (8-10 hrs). While fast chargers can fully charge an EV in an hour, they are few in number and an hour is a long wait if you are not living a retired life, yet.

Wait for the EV tech to evolve over the next 24 months and you will get better bang for your bucks !

One may argue that the installed capacity of solar be trimmed down, but taking into account the future requirement as well as mood, i am inclined to splurge now rather than add incremental over time-involving both time and hardship.

But seriously looking for an EV car- Nexon or Tigor? or something else?
The problem with solar energy is that it's not constant/reliable.
The amount of usable power you get depends on the quality of solar panels, the size and efficiency of your inverter and the capacity of the batteries.
I live on a farm, have a 10KW monocrystalline solar panel setup with an 8KVA inverter and 8 batteries of 200AH each and own a Nexon EV!

Some points:

Electricity supply in rural areas is erratic so I require all the current for my use plus I cannot sell back to grid when the grid is off.

The current generated by the solar panels is just enough to charge the batteries as well as convert to AC and supply for use at home.

I have a charger setup with a changeover switch that switches the input between solar inverter and direct grid supply. My wife drives the Nexon EV for 70km approximately every day so I need to charge it alternate nights on grid. I can only charge it on solar on Sundays and holidays when the car can remain unused for 8 hours. If I use the solar inverter any other time for charging my EV then It picks up current from the grid also to maintain a stable output. If the grid is down then it depletes the inverter batteries pretty fast as the slow charger consumes 3.2KW.

If you install a 3-phase solar inverter then you can run your boring pumps, etc also on inverter.

Buy a Nexon EV if you can afford it. You will love it. It's good on broken roads, is simple to drive and looks good. Plus there is almost zero service cost!

Thank you for the post. Yes, i am leaning on the Nexon side as of now.

What is the maintenance requirement of the battery set up? And how long do they last?

Lots of distilled water and change of batteries every 4-5 years!
Do disconnect the battery and clean the battery terminals every 5-6 months and coat with Vaseline.

Nexon wins hands down ! - ( A suggestion from a Nexon EV owner having done 8000 trouble free Kms charging from rooftop solar from day 1).

re: I have a leash and want to get a dog | Got solar power, which EV? | EDIT: Nexon EV it is

Neither. Don't rush into buying a dog. Wait for the right dog to suit your needs. The Nexon and Tigor, both look like a compromise. An expensive compromise. No cruise control in Nexon. No alloy wheels in Tigor.

I say wait a year or two for the tech to mature. No point in being a paying beta tester. From your opening post, I see that you like to spend once and buy right. Buy an EV made from the ground up. The Kona and ZS are also ICE cars made to work with batteries.

Tata have just received fresh funding for EVs. I'm sure they'll have something exciting in the next 2 years. Hyundai and Kia are bringing a mass-market EV in 2024. I think you should wait at least till 2024.

Till then, sell it off at 2.5 Rs. It's still better than wasting it. Or share with someone in the neighborhood. I'd also advise against going all-in on solar today. Prices of panels will become more competitive in the near future. It's better to upgrade gradually and dollar-cost-average the power plant. Even if the solar and battery prices don't come down, there's opportunity cost and inflation savings in adding 4kW every year for the next 3 years.

You got that right. I like to do my due diligence, sometimes to the effect of procrastination, but like to buy or build right. Took 2 years to finalise plans and contractor for my farm house, but it is coming along nicely now.
See your point and shall check out the offerings.

I would suggest E-Verito D2. Range is about 140km and is available for immediate delivery with some dealers.

Hi Earthian, since you don't really need an EV car for your personal commute, I would suggest the Tata Ultra T7 truck (or mini-truck) which would be useful for the farm related works, material movements etc. It's an EV with good specifications, and it looks good. Recently, I saw one Tata Ultra T7 bigger model (Diesel engine) at Kaudiyala. It was beautiful.
By the way, DGVCL/ UGVCL electricity tariff seems costly. I guess you are receiving the commercial category power supply?

No, residential supply since it is a residence. Why?
