Re: 2022 MG ZS EV Facelift with bigger battery revealed in Europe

My guess is, MG will possibly introduce two facelift models at different price points in India in 2022. The first one would be lower range versions with 25-30 kW battery capacity that will cover 200KM real world range positioned to compete with the NEVs at around 15-20L pricing. That’s a very tempting sweet spot for largely city driving which can potentially drive higher volume sales.

The other range versions could be 50-60kW battery capacity that will cover possibly 400-450KM real world range at a price points of 30-35L.

A range of options around these two price points would possibly position MG as a formidable player in EV segment.

Re: 2022 MG ZS EV Facelift with bigger battery revealed in Europe

We booked my MG ZS EV in Oct 2021 and the salesperson confirmed last month that we will be getting the 2022 version. However their timeline is not definitive. They have given us an approximate date of April 2022. Also there is probably going to be a sizable price increase due to the bigger battery and slew of new features.

I have booked the 2022 version and was given similar timelines by the sales person.

Hearing mixed things about Indian version of 2022 ZS EV. Read an article online yesterday that claims MG might downsize battery in the new ZS ev to 40 KW to stay competitive in the market. That would be a let down if it were to happen.

If MG goes for similar updates as in the European version, I am expecting a price hike of around 2 Lakhs in India. Fingers crossed.

It is likely to be more expensive as the battery size is now over 50KW. In addition, it is expected to have an all digital instrument cluster, a larger 10 inch touch screen, better interior, LED headlights and ADAS. In the UK, it is priced over 30 lakhs and I expect the same in India.

I don't remember any manufacturer increasing the price of a car by 25% in one year, but that doesn't mean it won't happen. The new UK specs do seem to justify the price increase.

I have put down my deposit for the Excite version and have a budget of 25L, if the price is going to increase beyond that I'll have to cancel. Unfortunately we won't know about this at least for another 3 months.

The UK price is for the 72KW version which seems to be fair enough considering the battery has been upped by 60% compared to the previous model. They are yet to launch the lower powered 51KW version in the UK and price details hasn't been revealed yet either. Still staying hopeful that 51KW, if launched in India, would not see a price increase beyond Rs. 2,00,000.

Agree on that. The sales numbers of MG ZS EV is just around 10% of what Nexon EV does if I am not wrong. Pushing it to 30 Lakhs would make it even more difficult to push + make it lot more expensive than that the awaited Kona refresh. Moreover, the price difference between Astor and ZS EV wouldn't be justifiable that way.

The price I quoted is for the facelift version. They will also introduce a lower priced version with a smaller battery that could be closer to the 20 lakh mark. However, expect the price to touch 28 to 30 lakhs for even the lower variants with the 53KW variants with the facelift. If they introduce the 72KW in India then it would definitely be over 30 lakhs.

+1. I have Booked my car in the last week of Oct 2021. However no delivery date yet despite the SA being confident of January. Tried getting hold of some 2021 stock but apparently nothing is available.

I dread a hefty price hike from the already hefty 26.2L OTR Mumbai price tag. I don't think it's worth more than that TBH. Plus, I'm not a fan of the grille deletion of the 2022 car. In a fix for now.

Wait and watch a bit. Sometimes you can get good discounts on older models once the new ones comes out.

Re: 2022 MG ZS EV Facelift with bigger battery revealed in Europe

I am on the hooks of booking a car be it xuv 700 or Mg ZS EV. Have been in thinking mode for last 4 months.

If MG launches all three reported versions i.e. 40kwh, 53kwh and 72kwh, it would create an even bigger dilemma. I feel they should launch all three in a single go and then sit on bookings. Looks like a standard 6 month waiting period now with all cars.

Re: 2022 MG ZS EV Facelift with bigger battery revealed in Europe

Autocar says the 51KWh variant of the updated MG ZS EV is launching in Feb 2022. Price announcement also expected next month itself. Seems in line with some of the members posting here about expected delivery around April.

PS: MG news starts at 7:00
