Re: Battery & range calculation of MG ZS EV | Real world statistics

I own a 2020 model with 39,000km on the odd. Vehicle has been a hoot to drive. Complete power monster. Only downside being thee driving dynamics. The vehicle tends to have a lot of vertical movement which is quite unsettling. Battery health sits at 93%. voltage cat 100% is at 448V. I mainly use the slow charger. Only when necessary I use the 7.2kwh. I have used it 2 times in a year. However, on outstation trips, fast charging has been done. I get around 220-230km range with normal driving and in normal mode with aircon and lights on auto. One major characteristics which is questionable about this car is its battery. I feel degradation is high! Secondly, on fast charging, I tend to loose 3-4% immediately after plugging out the charger. This is not healthy. the first percentile after doing a 100% charge on a granny charger is lost at a mere 500m to 1km which again is not right.

Degradation seems to be super high, I heard similar high degradation from MG ZS EV, could be the reason for change to LFP batteries in the newer version.

i think its expected. The display probably shows the lower integer of % charge available. So, it wouldn't be 100% after travelling 500 meters. Even if it comes down to say 99.9%, display would show 99%.

Apparently, it is low degradation as per MG India. According to them, battery is set to degrade 3.75% per year or 30% in 8 years. If the degradation exceeds these, figures, they are responsible for replacement

Hey!! Does any one know if MG ZS EV uses a air cooled or a liquid cooled battery?

Liquid cooled. AFAIK, Citroen eC3 is the only car sold in India which has air cooled batteries. Not sure about MG Comet though.
