Car looks like Tigor EV to me. Why is the point in giving it a different name? Perhaps to prevent people from associating the Tigor brand with that of a Taxi?

You are right. The Tigor EV is marketed as a more premium product, while this Xpres-T EV will cater to the government orders.

I don't think a fast charging time of 90 min to 80% on those relatively smaller capacity batteries is good enough. The average lunch break of a driver is 30-45 mins, if that. That's the time frame TaMo should be targeting. Their fast chargers aren't fast enough.

Is that a typo or can the higher battery capacity version be charged faster?

I dont get this. Have a slow charger and a fast charger. But why have 2 variants of a fast charger for the same car?

Very smartly, Tata has kept the Tigor brand off this car.

The better battery should give a ~150 km range, which will be enough for the corporate types & fleets buying this for their CSR / image / PR exercises. Remember, the best time to charge an EV is overnight when its parked at home, or during the 9-hour period when you're at office. Fast-charging will be expensive (check prices in the USA), and is generally considered to be the best option for inter-city travellers on highway runs.

With the focus on fleet, I feel they should ditch the Tigor and focus on the Nexon as their premium EV offering. In similar cases cases, the premium variants dies over time where both co-existed - Eg: Dzire, Vento

In addition to the earlier 3.5k cars order in October last year, BluSmart have ordered another 10,000 XPRES Ts. This is India's largest EV order to date.

Tata Motors to deliver 10,000 EVs to BluSmart Electric Mobility

These vehicles are an addition to the 3,500 XPRES T EV order, which was signed by both the companies in October last year, and will be used across the country for commuters, in turn helping minimise the carbon footprint.

Anmol Singh Jaggi, CoFounder, BluSmart Electric Mobility, “With our $50M in Series A fundraise, we are supercharged to rapidly expand across Delhi NCR and the metro cities. We are thankful to Tata Motors for charging up our journey to scale up at a fast pace. BluSmart Electric Mobility has covered 50 million clean kms and delivered over 1.6 million zero-emission rides with an elevated customer experience on its platform. We are building a large-scale integrated EV mobility ecosystem in India - from the country's largest fully-electric ride-hailing service to the largest network of EV charging super hubs.”

Why try to hoodwink with a new name and one look we all know it's the Tigor: the sedan that's not selling for Tata, Tigor EV must be evolving and keeping with the times as the old Tigor EV sold to Govt dept's are lying unused and in disrepair. Better to steer clear of this cheap Tata EV.

Tigor's sales have more than doubled since the EV relaunch. Off late it sells on an average 4k units per month and currently has an approx. 4 month waiting period. Just in the recent past they have garnered orders for more than 20k units of the XpresT in fleet sales alone. The Tigor serves an important segment, especially for those looking for a more affordable EV option, perhaps even a better choice for city use compared to the electric Nexon.

The XpresT is a bit like the maruti's dzire-tour, a bare basic fleet variant hence the differentiation. Even the specs are very different, the Tigor EV has a 75 ps motor with a 26 kWh battery pack. On the other hand the XpresT comes with a 40 ps and 21 kwh or 16.5 kwh battery pack options. No one is hoodwinking anybody, just two different variants targeted at two very different markets.

Dude, visit GURUGRAM/DELHI and take a ride in one of the BluSmart Cabs.

Talk to the Drivers, inquire about their experiences with driving an EV Cab, ask how they rate driving and EV Vs. driving an ICE Cab, quiz them if they face any issues, get to know whether there has been any improvements over the years in the cabs that they drive. YOU'LL BE SURPRISED..!!

The X-PRESS T must be providing invaluable real world feedback/data to TATA with regards to developing an EV Vehicle.
