re: The Tata Nexon EV Max, launched at Rs. 17.74 lakh (pg 18)

Great pricing and really good feature addition especially cruise control and ventilated seats! I hope they can increase their production capacity / semiconductor aquisition and get the waiting periods down. I wish Tata all success.

Do you have some information that is not in public domain? MG website still has it launching in July 2022. I've booked one too

I don't think the EV Max will be eligible for subsidy. Ex showroom above 17 L is not eligible for subsidy. So if you are shifting from XZ+ or XZ+ dark to EV Max, the price will increase by 1.5 + 1.75 Lakhs

Oh! I just went to MG showroom on Monday and he didn't even tell me that. I even told him my budget is around 20 lakhs and still he did not inform me about Excite variant. He told me there's no lower variant and only one variant.

Sorry my bad. Didn't know it's getting launched in July 2022.

Are you able to get hold of the brochure? Does the XZ+ still come with Fabric Seats or is it leatherette without ventilation ?

re: The Tata Nexon EV Max, launched at Rs. 17.74 lakh (pg 18)

Fantastic and very smart pricing!

Many users (including myself) will not need the 7.2kw charger due to sanctioned load issues. I'm glad that we have an option of nor paying for the fast charger of we don't need it.

There is a good 10L+ gap now between the top end Nexon and ZS exclusive for not too many compromises. Net net, the MG gets better interiors and a pano sunroof over Nexon EV now. All other parameters seem to be equivalent. Not sure if that's worth a 10L premium.

Fabulous! BHPians on this thread expected a 2 lakh rupees hike and Tata succeeded in recognizing the wave. If I'm not wrong the ZS ev comes with lesser mileage now?
A total masterstroke by Tata and I for one am very excited. Another winner for Tata here.

Point to Note here; Tata mentioned Lithium Ion battery (EV Max) and not the LFP battery (Nexon EV). I wonder what will be the long term prospects of this change. LFP is better than Lithoum ion if I'm not wrong.

The previous specs mention Lithium Ion as well and not LFP.

LFP is one type of Li Ion battery. LFP, NMC, NCA are different chemistries of Lithium Ion.

I have one question regarding the 7.2 KW charging. Will the 7.2 model charge at 3.3 at a normal plug?

Will be interesting to understand the Safety angle. How does this stand against regular Nexon? Now that many manufacturers are facing issues with defective ( flammable ) battery supplies [ I am referring to two wheelers ], curious to understand what Tata will do differently to give that comfort.

Wish, they get EV version too crash tested !!

Nope, A Lithium Ion is considered different. While all these are lithium batteries.
Li-on used in ather, ola scooter, tesla long range models all have a max fully charged voltage of 4.2v(nominal 3.6 to 3.7v)
Li-po which is used in Hyundai Kona, Kia Nero are also 4.2v full charged voltage(nominal 3.7v)

LFP on the other hand have a fully charged voltage of 3.6v(nominal 3.2v). They also have a flat discharge curve with respect to voltage drop vs capacity.

Every smart charger I have used since more then a decade have settings labeled for Li-on, Li-Po and Li-HV(4.35) and LiFePO4(LFP). While the media just uses lithium ion for everything.

So when one says lithium Ion it cannot be confused with lithium iron phosphate(LFP).

re: The Tata Nexon EV Max, launched at Rs. 17.74 lakh (pg 18)

What is the actual difference between the 3.3kW and 7.2kW charger options?

Does it refer to the supplied wallbox only or also to the onboard charger in the car?

Is it so that with 3.3kW version, one gets 3.3kW onboard charger and 3.3kW wallbox? And with the 7.2kW version, the onboard charger is upgraded as well as the supplied wallbox?

If the onboard charger is 7.2kW in all versions, can't one can still charge at 7.2kW outside home where it is available and choose the 3.3kW wallbox for home?

The car is absolutely same, only the charger that's supplied is different. at 50K extra, you get a fast 7.2 charger, and 3.3 comes for free.

It only refers to the charger supplied with the car. You can charge the car with 3.3, 7.2 or upto 50 kWH fast charger.

Not bundling 7.2kw charger actually helps cut down on cost for buyer like me.

It isn’t. Launch is scheduled in July 2022 as per MG’s official communication.
Similar thoughts and I have made my booking today for Nexon EV MAX XZ+ Lux (3.3kw). Hope it will not be 6 months wait
