The 6 airbags mandate is for vehicles which can seat 8 people, Nexon can continue with 2 airbags, having said that I read somewhere that Max gets 6 airbags.

Autocar says yes. Also without optional ESC they risk achieving a 2-star GNCAP rating at best under their new (July) assessment protocols.

Booked the nexon today but told the SA will probably switch to Max version on 11th. Told him to share the Brochure and other details as available. They still have zero details about pricing, color options or anything else. The SA said expect an increase of 2-2.5L on road.

Took a semi long test drive today and was totally sold after driving it for 5 mins in S mode. Have never seen any car have so much difference in normal and sports mode.

More and more sure after each and every teaser that will be switching to Max version on 11th.

So real world range of 280-300 kms breaks another big mental barrier for prospective buyers who were struggling with range anxiety worries.
Now the first big question is at what premium over the current Nexon?

Undercut the delayed base zs excite variant, the Nexon EV will steal sales from MG. At least for now Tata is leaving very little breathing space for the competition in the EV game!
The second question is can TML ramp up demand to close the current supply and reduce delivery times?

At present waiting periods are getting longer than ever. Last month MG received 1000 bookings, but delivered a paltry 228 cars. They haven't even launched the Excite version yet for which I think they will receive a lot of bookings.

Meanwhile the Nexon EV has had 3 price increased this year alone! People are being quoted a waiting period of six months before the long range version is even announced. However bookings don't seem to be slowing down.

This a total seller's market, there are simply not enough EVs being made to satisfy the demand. If I were Tata I would price the long range version with a hefty profit margin, its not like there is any dearth of orders for EVs.

MG is still quoting a wait time of 4 months only, still seems better than 6 month of wait time for Nexon EV. If priced too high, Tata Motors might loose potential buyers to MG for the ZS EV. Irrespective of all the goodies being added in the Nexon EV Max, which is honestly quite alluring, the ZS EV still is a good choice. Pricing the Nexon EV Max close to ZS EV Excite might mess things up for Nexon EV Max.

Quite interesting times in the EV Market, especially for MG and Tata Motors. Until Mahindra launches the eXUV 300, I don’t see any other competitor as well in this price range in the next one year. All the hype about EV6 or Ioniq 5 doesn’t impact this segment.

Further information on Nexon Ev Max :

Will be offered in two variants XZ+ and XZ+ Lux with two charging options 3.3 kWh (15-16 hours of charging time) & 7.2 kWh units (5-6 hours of charging time) having a price difference of ₹ 60,000-70,000.

40.5 kWh battery Pack & likely to have same 350 litre boot space .

Deliveries to start by late May or early June expect prices to start around on road ₹ 20 lakh.

Nexon EV Max will also come in 2 versions XZ+ & XZ+ LUX as suggested by Autocar India and multiple other websites. They are also saying that the 7.2kWH option will require customer to shell out additional 60-70k for installation.

Hopefully the XZ+ comes equipped decently like the current range so that can switch my booking to that.

Unless it comes with the top trim only the name will become really wrong with something like Nexon EV XZ+ Lux Max. And then the dark addition adding another word to the already long name.

Guessed the name pretty accurately and its going to get really long now.
