As per the reports, Apple has already had meetings with SK Innovations - a leading EV battery manufacturer, as well as LG Electronics. However, the talks with the different Korean component manufacturers are still in their early stages.

It also mentions that the LG Magna e-Powertrain, created by the joint venture between LG & Magna Internationals, is currently the front runner in terms of supplying Apple with the electric powertrain for its first electric car.

Also, there were reports of Apple being in talks with Chinese EV battery manufacturers, CATL & BYD. Apple is said to be looking at using Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) batteries on its upcoming EV. These batteries are known to be less prone to overheating, making it a safer option compared to the standard Li-ion options.

Apple is targeting the year 2024 for the launch of its first all-electric passenger vehicle.
