Re: Tata to launch another electric car - Tigor EV with Ziptron

I asked about the range with a SE at the dealer in Goa. She says it is rumoured to be 300 kms but the actual figure they'll know at launch.

Let’s see how it handles since the pack is surely heavier than the XpressT.

MID showing 66% for 166km DTE. 250km-ish on 100% by extrapolation.
I think this new Ziptron EV is still the old Tigor EV with the "skatebord" style platform/chassis with a retrofitted battery pack at the boot's spare wheels space.
The old one had 21.5 kwh battery pack. This new one in the boot maybe the extra 5 kwh battery giving it a total 26kwh. This along with the new ziptron drive package will be giving better real life range.

Such a setup would likely make production easier and give about 200 - 250kms real range which would an excellent deal with a 12-13lac pricing.

Sorry if this has already been discussed.

Has Tata revealed the range, or is it not being revealed since being under the purview of national security?!

Range reveal is expected on 31/8 when the car is officially announced. The leading opinions suggest a real world range between 200 and 250 kms.

How is the range revelation relevant to our national security?

Re: Tata to launch another electric car - Tigor EV with Ziptron

What is the process for subsidy ? The new policy as per the Maharashtra govt said the manufacturer has to pass on the subsidy benefit to the customer and claim it from the govt. Also what is the price range that would make it a real sweet deal ? I think about 11 lacs should be real real great. The previous Tigor EV which was a fleet vehicle was launched for 10 lacs. Now the fleet vehicles are always way costly then the personal use vehicle. The 1st gen dzires were selling for a bomb and had massive waiting periods for fleet purposes after the 2nd Gen dzire came out. Thus considering that I think 11-11.5 Lacs should be ideal. Also Altroz EV when launched and if has same specs should have similar price as it a premium hatch. It would not be at a lower price. Also doesnt Tesla have like a front boot space as well ? It has its engine components in the back ?

Another video showing 62% charge and 168km range so a full charge will yield 270km!

for crying out loud, don't fall for DTE, that is an estimate, and it depends on how you drove the last few minutes/kms.

With the battery in the boot, wondering what implications it will have in case of a heavy rear impact. Since battery is the most expensive component in an EV, this seems to be a possible single point of failure.

This for me is the biggest concern while deciding between this and the Nexon EV. I know Nexon is definitely a better car, but it seems Tigor could have a better usable range of 250-300 kms (maybe?).

Me too, I want to pick either the Nexon, Altroz or the Tigor. My present car's gearbox is failing and I hope it lasts unitl the Altroz is launched so that I can decide between them. I don't need a car as big as the nexon because I will be travelling alone most of the time and I dislike SUVs in general. At present I am hoping we get an Altroz with around 275 - 300 real world range.

However I'll be honest, the math doesn't add up for the Tigor, I don't see any way it has a better range than the Nexon in its advertised specifications. Despite the ARAI range which they will flout, we will have to wait for people who actually buy the car to tell us what the real world range is. When the Nexon EV was released, people were going crazy when they saw the advertised range of 312 KM, things got a lot calmer when real world range came to be known as around 225 KMs for most drivers.

Re: Tata to launch another electric car - Tigor EV with Ziptron

Very expensive compared to Nexon EV.

Should have priced atleast a lakh or two lower to make a impact.
No reason why one should go for Tigor when Nexon is better in everyway

So with the subsidy in Maharashtra, the price is to get lower, right? Only insurance value increases.

Re: Tata to launch another electric car - Tigor EV with Ziptron

Great package I would say, spec or range not compromised still 2-3 lakhs cheaper than Nexon EV. Eagerly waiting for on road prices with subsidies in Maharashtra, Gujarat and Delhi.
