Re: Tata to launch another electric car - Tigor EV with Ziptron

Bear in mind the peak power is just 75bhp which is too low given there is no reduction aka gearbox. Tata is quoting a 0-60 kph sprint in 5.7 seconds. I reckon this wont be able to do 100kmph or will 100kph at best so suitable mostly as a city runabout.

I think it will reach 100kmph but Tata is not really proud to quote it .

Good launch with the pricing together with the crash test results.

Actual Range might be close to 220-250 km/full charge taking reference from the Nexon EV.
Good city runabout car. May even work out cheaply as a Taxi for intra city use as most of these taxis see bumper to bumper traffic and hence will not affect the range much. And the drivers can charge it at any of the fast chargers for a fee during their breaks.

Surprisingly very neat and precise presentation by TaMo. Even graphics were good. GNCAP 4 start rated car with a practical range of 250KM and 2lakh less comparing to nearest affordable EV is always welcome move.

I wish at least the Nexon had 3 point belts for all seating positions. But unfortunately most people ask for the central arm rest, and not the 3 point seat belt in the middle. I guess even XUV 300 initially had all 3-point seat belts, but now only the top variant does. While most people might say that it is anyway not comfortable for 3 people in the rear seat of Tigor, I would at least use a booster seat for a kid in the middle, and a booster seat still needs the 3-point seat belt along with the ISOFIX.

Tigor EV gets blue fabric upholstery in the cabin to set it apart from its petrol counterpart.

Re: Tata to launch another electric car - Tigor EV with Ziptron

This should have been launched for the taxi segment under (Xpres-t brand or whatever). Instead, Tata is milking the FAME II subsidies but only giving very small battery and motor. Now they brought Ziptron marketing gimmick to the Tigor EV and releasing in the personal segment. But it has a smaller battery and low power motor but the price is not much lower compared to Nexon EV. Remember Nexon EV starts at XM variant while Tigor EV starts with XE variant.

Tata should start developing their own motors instead of importing from China. Almost all carmakers across the world are developing their own motors, battery packs with only battery cells being imported. After seeing this pricing, I doubt if Tata is going to be launching the Altroz at a much cheaper price than Nexon EV. Also, they will price the bigger battery pack variants that are rumored at much higher prices as well.

The Indian EV car market desperately needs competition like two-wheelers.

Re: Tata to launch another electric car - Tigor EV with Ziptron

they have screwed up the pricing. By placing the pricing right next to Nexon EV, people would prefer the SUV over this vehicle which has already lost its appeal due to a large number of existing electric taxis on the roads.
Tata has not learnt anything from their Nano debacle. An exceptional vehicle let down by poor marketing.

Re: Tata to launch another electric car - Tigor EV with Ziptron

Could you elaborate on your rationale? I am of the opinion that it is priced well for people who simply need to use it in the city with a daily run of 50+ kms and Nexon doesn't really provide any additional features, but involves a spend of another few lakhs.

Should have priced atleast a lakh or two lower to make a impact.
No reason why one should go for Tigor when Nexon is better in everyway

Re: Tata to launch another electric car - Tigor EV with Ziptron

This launch is giving me those half hearted attempt vibes. Wheel caps on a 13+lac rupee car? Lol. This might pass off to fleet buyers but for private buyers like us, that is not cool. Range and performance numbers are modest at best. Looks like Tata is still targeting fleet buyers and reserving the Altroz EV(please launch ASAP)/Nexon EV for private buyers.

4star and unstable body shell is a never ending love story for the Tiago/Tigor. But kudos to Tata for showing this result right after the launch.

Also, I thought Day/Night IRVM was standard on all cars. Never knew it was being promoted as a special feature.

Re: Tata to launch another electric car - Tigor EV with Ziptron

A little disappointed here. I really thought they would not have skimped on the battery capacity. Still looking forward to a 50kwh Tata EV that can be priced <15L. Thats when the real revolution will begin.

Re: Tata to launch another electric car - Tigor EV with Ziptron

I had speculated the pricing to be 10 lacs for the base variant, but it is not so. The average joe would definitely think twice before going for it. Then we have something like conversion kits which are costing half the price of a new car and on the other side you can still get a decent ICE car that too new in the price of conversion kits in today's market...If one can wait for 2-3 years there will be good number of options to choose from.

The price difference between Nexon XM and Tigor XZ+ is just 1Lakh.
For that price, you get a better built spacious interior compact suv vs a compact sedan.
Nexon EV also offer better ride quality and more power compared to Tigor EV.

What you might out in Nexon XM variant is just the harman music system. Tigor EV in the top end variant doesn't even offer alloys as standard.

Also the boot space is compromised in Tigor EV due to the spare tyre placed in the boot.

All in all Nexon EV is much better in every sense compared to Tigor EV.

Re: Tata to launch another electric car - Tigor EV with Ziptron

For those who complaining about the performance and power, I consider this far better than Swift Dzire diesel with 74bhp and 190nm torque. Not a apple to apple comparison but should we bother?! How can we forget the availability of instant torque!

With respect to pricing, new Honda Amaze diesel CVT top end costs near 14L on the road in Bangalore.

Re: Tata to launch another electric car - Tigor EV with Ziptron

I think it's sensible pricing. Considering we had to import the Lithium Batteries, I was not expecting the Tigor EV base variant to be priced below ₹ 10L.

However with Fame 2/State Govt subsidies, on road prices may be quite good. It will have more real world range than the Nexon EV.

Plus one has the option to not take the extra tyre in the boot and take the puncture repair kit instead. I would like to know if the prices will vary for them since they are actually not buying an entire tyre with rims.
