Jeep to introduce its first fully-electric vehicle in 2023

Jeep is planning to introduce its first series-produced electric vehicle in 2023.

According to a media report, the introduction of the Jeep EV is part of Stellantis' (parent company) electrification plans for the future. As per these plans, the Stellantis Group has stated that it will launch a total of 22 PHEV and BEV models in international markets over the next 2 years. This will include models from almost all the brands under the Group's umbrella.

However, apart from a timeline, no other details of the upcoming models have been revealed. Reports do speculate that the upcoming Jeep EV is expected to either come in the form of an electrified Wrangler or it could even be an all-new compact-SUV model.

Jeep is reported to be working on adding an all-new all-electric compact-SUV offering to its lineup. As per these reports, the compact electric SUV will be positioned below the Renegade and serve as an entry-level offering in the lineup.

The compact-SUV could also be underpinned by Stellantis' e-CMP platform, considering that the new 'STLA architecture' will not debut until 2026.

Jeep Announces plans for its first electric SUV, coming in 2023

Jeep announced it's first purely battery-electric vehicle. The automaker recently announced that it would release “zero-emission” versions of all of its vehicles by 2025, along with plug-hybrid variants. While The company didn't share any other details or even the vehicle’s name, it did confirm that the new EV will launch in 2023.

Jeep is likely to use Stellantis’ STLA platform, which is one of four platforms used by the automaker for its upcoming lineup of EVs.

Just loved the design, butch yet admirable. Wish we could get such options in our market. We might get it at a price point where the common guy cannot afford and we will be stuck with tin can designs at the lower bottom. Though things have improved over the last few years.

I really wish Stellantis brings more models into India through their multiple brands. Having an international player ensures good design language and good products (unless they go VAG route recently with quality).

But, with a more electric heavy model range in future, not sure our infra will support the influx of EVs at the same pace. Lets see, but this one excites me for if nothing else but the design.

Re: Jeep to introduce its first fully-electric vehicle in 2023

Not sure I like the name. With so many names available, did it have to be a popular Marvel name?

But the product otherwise looks good. The Jeep Avenger E -

From the press release -

Quote:
All-new Jeep Avenger, the First-ever Fully Electric Jeep SUV, Arrives in Europe in 2023

In Europe, the Jeep brand has already made a big shift by offering only electrified SUVs in countries such as Germany and France. By the end of this year, 100% of the Jeep SUV portfolio will be electrified in almost all of the European markets.

The plan revealed today builds upon this 4xe momentum, developing a portfolio of capable, fully electric vehicles designed and rightsized for Europe. The brand will introduce four zero-emission vehicles in Europe by 2025, with offerings in the main volume segments. As a result of this product onslaught, all the Jeep vehicles on sale in the region will be 100% electric by 2030.

The first model of this product offensive is the all-new, all-electric Jeep Avenger, a compact SUV that was presented during the Stellantis Dare Forward long-term strategic plan earlier this year.

The all-new Jeep Avenger, to be introduced in Europe and other markets, such as Japan and South Korea, will be positioned under the Jeep Renegade and will be produced in the high-efficiency plant in Tychy, Poland.

With a targeted electric range of 400 kilometres, this new SUV will offer impressive ground clearance, breakover and approach angles for its segment, while delivering a modern and technologically advanced interior, with plenty of space for people and cargo.

“The all-new Avenger will offer Jeep brand capability that is rightsized for the European market,” said Antonella Bruno, head of Jeep Europe at Stellantis, “This modern, fun and emotional SUV will appeal to a growing set of customers who are looking for a capable, compact, modern and all-electric Jeep brand alternative to the current players.”

The Jeep Avenger will debut during the Paris Motor Show press day, on October 17, with reservations opening for customers that same day. The all-new Jeep Avenger will arrive in showrooms in early 2023.

Re: Jeep to introduce its first fully-electric vehicle in 2023

Looks great !

But it begs the question , will it make its way to India ever? My guess is it will, but may not be before 2024

Re: Jeep to introduce its first fully-electric vehicle in 2023

To me it looks a mix of Renault Duster, VW Taigun, and Jeep Compass with hints of the Renegade. Not an original authentic Jeep design language.

On name front they might face issues with Bajaj when launching in India. I'm still waiting for Renegade to launch in India which could have sold well as a niche product, but FCA is just being FCA, Don't think this one is coming to India anytime soon.

Re: Jeep to introduce its first fully-electric vehicle in 2023

The naming choice is... questionable to say the least. I don't like it, but I'm sure there are those who do. This might be quite successful if launched in India at a reasonable price point (the key being reasonable, something Jeep isn't exactly the best at), in order to not price itself out of the market. It would be a good rival for the ZS EV and Kona Electric.

Indeed, this looks like a mix of something that's primarily still a Jeep, but contains not-insignificant amounts of Citroën and Renault, with a hint of Fiat. Not surprising, as it's all from the Stellantis parts bin. It does look good though, despite the lack of a distinct identity.

Re: Jeep to introduce its first fully-electric vehicle in 2023

Looks good though not in line with other Jeep designs. Highly doubt this would come to our shores anytime soon. With the sub-4m suv on hold or dead, do not see any new product landing here.
