Plenty of features were removed from the Kona as well. Adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, lane assist etc were all removed.

Re: Driving Impressions : Hyundai Ioniq 5

The guy who drives and reviews the most EV models in the world, Bjorn Nyland, has got his hands on an Ioniq 5. So here below is his range test results done at Norwegian summer temperatures. As expected from an SUV sized vehicle, the range falls right in the middle of VW ID4 and Audi Q4 etron territory:

He also posted an interior review video, which I should say, short but very informative and to the point :

Re: Driving Impressions : Hyundai Ioniq 5

Those are interesting stats. The way I read it, its a shade over a 60% increase in watt hour/km consumption once you go from 90 - 120kmph. This is about the same across the board, or, from the 3 cars on the list above.

Does the last column mean range one can expect at 75% charge and when driven at 75kmph? I assume all charge times are based on fast chargers, charged from some minimal percentage.

All in all, those are phenomenal numbers for the Ioniq 5.

I am curious what happens when temperature and humidity increases. I assume it will be something like going into sub zero temperatures.

The difference is less for cars which are more aerodynamic, I found the difference is 75% for Tesla model 3.

The last column is charging up to 75% and using the 75% of the battery.
(300km(range for 75%)/17min) ×60mins = 1058km. It shows that the charging required is 1 hour to drive 1058kms.@90kmph.

Thanks SKC-auto for the explanation. Basically, this is a good indication of an EV charging time to cover a specific distance with 1 hour of fast charging. For Ioniq 5, this looks pretty good as you spend about an hour for 1058kms of driving (but only if you drive slow at 90kmph. At 120kmph, this value drops too). In case of Model 3 SR+ it is only half of Ioniq 5's at 90kmph. Note: The infrastructure should also support atleast 250kW of charging.

I find the drop in range of Ioniq 5 at higher speeds pretty bad compared to other SUVs like BMW iX3, Lexus UX300e, VW ID4 etc. Here is the range drops indicated:

I don't think humidity has much influence on the perfomance, but the temperature does. From the last 2 years, I have logged about 31000kms on Teslamate (The first few months I missed as Teslamate project was not started then) and the efficiency becomes better with increasing temperature upto 30degC. At higher temperatures 35degC, I have very less data to come to conclusions. But still I suspect, the efficiency drop at higher temperatures is not as bad as at low temperatures. Here is from my model 3:

Are charge times on the document based on 250kW chargers?
The more common Tesla super chargers go up to 120kW?

75% range according to the Bjorn Nyland's data is just the 65% of the total range in that particular speed. He thinks that is more realistic as most people will go down to 10% SoC and not to 0%. Hence the column '75% range' is basically 0.65x range at specific speed.

The charging times in the document are based on the maximum speed the car can accept. For eg. in case of Ioniq 5 (and also Taycan) tests, he only chose to charge at Ionity chargers as they all have 350kW charging power and the car has an 800V architecture, which is capable of accepting such high speeds.

The most common Tesla superchargers in Europe are V2, which provides upto 150kW. There are some locations where they upgraded from V2 to V3, which can go upto 250kW.

Hyundai Ioniq 5 spotted at Hyundai's Chennai plant. Is someone from Hyundai officials using the car?

Hyundai teams up with Motional’s vision of a driverless future becoming a reality.

The Ioniq 5 robotaxi boasts level four autonomy, which means it can drive itself in all situations unless a driver takes manual control.

The companies say the car is fitted with 30 exterior sensors, comprising cameras, radar and lidar, to give 360deg perception and an ability to detect objects at an ultra-long-range while on the move.

Motional said the Ioniq 5 robotaxi will begin transporting passengers in 2023 via self-driving service Lyft, which claims to have conducted hundreds of thousands of autonomous trips in Las Vegas.

2022 Hyundai Ioniq 5 N spied testing. Hyundai has committed to offering electric models under its N performance division in the near-future.

While the EV pictured features relatively standard Ioniq 5 bodywork, it appears to have a lower ground clearance, wider front and rear axles and low-profile sports tyres that sit on new wheels.

Extremely desirable looking hatchback with clean lines & proportions. Wish it had an IC engine and a manual gearbox too. However, good to understand its coming to India soon

How does ground clearance look? For a fully laden vehicle, wouldn't it be even lower?
