Goan Govt to provide subsidies to 11,000 EVs every year

The Government of Goa has decided to provide subsidies to 11,000 electric vehicles (EVs) every year for the next 5 years. The move is expected to promote the sale of EVs in the state.

As per the draft scheme, the subsidy will be given to 10,000 2-wheelers not exceeding Rs. 10 crore per year, 500 3-wheelers not exceeding Rs. 1 crore per year and around 500 4-wheelers not exceeding Rs. 14 crore per year.

The subsidy will be given on a first-come-first-serve basis and will be disbursed in a single instalment on the purchase of the vehicle and upon producing documents such as the Registration Certificate and insurance.

Earlier, the state government had also announced that it would be waiving off registration charges for the first 10,000 electric 2-wheelers. The government also plans to offer cash incentives, subsidies and incentives on scrapping old vehicles.
