Porsche to introduce a more affordable EV below the Taycan

Porsche is said to be working on expanding its EV lineup with a new electric sedan. According to a media report, this new electric sedan will be positioned below the Taycan, making it a more affordable offering.

Reports suggest that the new affordable EV model from Porsche will make use of the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) architecture, which the company jointly developed with Audi. The new Porsche EV is also said to be based on Audi's upcoming A4 e-tron, which could see both models share a number of components.

Once introduced, the new model is expected to be Porsche's third pure-electric offering, following the Taycan and the Macan EV, which has been confirmed for a 2023 launch.

While details are scarce, reports do suggest that the new Porsche electric sedan could be called 'Cajun' - a name the company had trademarked back in 2011. The new Porsche EV is also likely to be offered with both - a single-motor rear-wheel-drive or dual-motor four-wheel-drive powertrain options.

Once introduced in the market, the affordable new Porsche EV will take on direct competition from the Tesla Model 3 and the recently unveiled BMW i4.
