Re: Tesla Model S Plaid sets new 1/4 mile record of 9.2 seconds, confirmed by Jay Leno

Might be relevant to this thread. I love the fact that this guy is not just cashing in on the hype by becoming a Tesla Fanboy.

So the <1.99s is actually from ~6 to 60 mph and not starting from 0mph. That too in a VHT prepped surface and not on a normal asphalt. Also they are inconsistent in quoting the numbers in their own specs. Tesla is miles ahead of other OEMS in EV performance and SW but unfortunately it seems Tesla is clearly overhyping important facts and promises (FSD!) for marketing purpose.

Most Koenigsegg's come to mind and Bugatti's and certain $3mn Rimac electric supercar. If it was okay for them, why is it not okay now? Because the proletariat, relatively speaking, instead of just billionaires and their kids can afford it? This is a slam dunk to the internal combustion cars as far as I am concerned. The fastest car on the planet is a 130k electric car, faster than the royalty - Ferrari, Lambo's Bugatti's and other million dollar hypercars. Welcome to democracy.

Re: Tesla Model S Plaid is ready | 1.99 seconds 0-60 | 1000+ horsepower | 390 mile range

According to recent news reports, a Tesla Model S Plaid caught fire near Philadelphia. Fortunately, no one was inside the vehicle, and no injuries have been reported.

Reportedly, the fire company was at the scene for over three hours. Once the fire was properly extinguished, there wasn't much left of the Model S, though you can still make out its Tesla, "Plaid" badging, and Arachnid wheels.

Images provided by the Gladwyne Volunteer Fire Company that there were some battery cells on the street that somehow came out of the car's lithium-ion battery pack.
