Re: Toyota bZ4X electric SUV concept unveiled

New Electric Toyota bZ4X Price At Under £42,000 In UK. Cheaper than Tesla Model Y!

The car will go on sale in the UK in 2022.

The all-new car will be offered in a choice of three core trim levels, although a high-specification Premiere Edition version will also be available to mark the bZ4X’s debut.

Toyota bZ4X electric SUV concept unveiled-toyotabz4x.jpg

Entry-level Pure grade:

- starts at £41,950
- 18-inch alloy wheels, an eight-inch infotainment display and a digital instrument display, plus a reversing camera, climate control system and keyless entry. Optional extras will include roof rails and even a towing pack.
- will be offered exclusively in front-wheel-drive guise, with power coming from a 201 bhp electric motor. That, in turn, will be powered by a 71.4 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that’s expected to provide up to 280 miles of range on the official economy test.

Stepping up to the Motion model:

- Customers to choose between the Pure’s front-wheel-drive system or an all-wheel-drive electric powertrain, which offers 215 bhp.

- Both give the bZ4X the same 100 mph top speed, but the all-wheel-drive car is more than half a second faster to 62 mph, managing the benchmark sprint in 7.7 seconds.

-Motion models start at £45,750 in front-wheel-drive guise, rising to £48,350 in all-wheel-drive format

- That pays for a rear spoiler, rear privacy glass and a power-operated tailgate, as well as parking sensors, heated front seats and wireless phone charging. And for those who want more, there’s an options list with a panoramic glass roof, 20-inch alloy wheels and extra safety tech.

Range is topped by the Vision grade:

- Gets 20-inch alloys as standard, not to mention rear parking sensors with auto-brake function, synthetic leather seat upholstery and front seats that are both heated and ventilated. There’s a heated steering wheel, too, plus a ‘digital key’ system that allows the car to be used with a smartphone app. Both front- and all-wheel-drive versions will be available, costing £47,650 and £50,250 respectively.

Premiere Edition:

- £51,550 Premiere Edition will mark the car’s UK launch, providing all the Vision equipment, plus a nine-speaker JBL sound system and panoramic glass roof. The car comes with all-wheel drive as standard.

Re: Toyota bZ4X electric SUV concept unveiled

Interesting price. That should get Tesla worrying. I will anyday prefer a Toyota EV to Tesla one.

On another note, I think price of hybrids will be higher than pure electric cars once the technology matures. Hybrids are the real luxury. They will get their much deserved recognition when the world moves to electric and common folks get tired of waiting in the charging lines. That's when the rich will turn to plug in Hybrids making them sexy again.

The Japanese firm has already advanced, and confirmed, its intention to cover all market segments with a new parallel range of electric cars. The smallest, newcomer Aygo X, will also have a zero-emission alternative. The future Toyota bZ1, an attractive eminently urban model that we anticipate in this recreation.
Quote:
The Japanese brand has already presented its new strategy "Beyond Zero", a brand dedicated exclusively to electric cars that will progressively reach the market, and with which the brand intends to rise to the top position as it is doing with hybrids among the generalists.
Quote:
Toyota has not given up on hybrids or combustion in this decade, but its firm commitment to electrification has allowed it to create a new range parallel to this traditional propulsion system.
Quote:
Based on the smallest concept car announced in the "beyond Zero" strategy, the future Toyota BZ1 will be an equivalent of the recently released Toyota Aygo X Cross, with similar proportions and design, although with a personality of its own, both front and rear, adopting the most avant-garde aesthetic features. Without front grille and with very fine LED headlights standing out at the front, while the interior will offer ample space despite the small dimensions.
Quote:
the smallest, like all, will also be based on the new special platform for electric cars "e-TGNA". An architecture that allows you to vary absolutely all the dimensions and adapt the propulsion, so the options are really almost endless. In the case of the model that concerns us, it will have front-wheel drive, an electric motor placed on this axis and a battery of between 35 and 45 kWh net that will offer a maximum autonomy close to 300 kilometers.
Quote:
its price will range between 15,000 and 20,000 Euros.

Re: Toyota bZ4X electric SUV concept unveiled

Toyota BZ2, preview of the future electric B-SUV that aspires to be leader of its category.

Toyota bZ4X electric SUV concept unveiled-toyotasuvelectricoadelanto2022853501646380712_1.jpg

Quote:
But in the portfolio of new Toyota launches there are more, small and large, and among them the one that we advance today in this recreation: that of the future Toyota bZ2.
Toyota bZ2 will be an alternative electric to the Yaris Cross!

The future bZ2 is another model based on the new special platform for electric cars "e-TGNA". The big difference with the equivalent crossover in combustion will not only be the fact that it will provide a large interior space, but it will have one or two electric motors, offered with front-wheel drive and also with all-wheel drive, since the firm has also been responsible for registering the commercial name of "bZ2X" .

Talking about powers in a model that will arrive in the middle of the decade is complicated, but the Japanese firm has electric motors with a minimum power of 80 kW and a maximum of 150 kW, equivalent to 109 and 204 hp.

Quote:
Neither of them will be in the future model, but they will be regulated through their control software to offer different versions with a power level typical of the category, between 130 and 160 hp.

Toyota will mount a battery with a sufficient capacity so that, on a single charge, it can travel journeys of up to 400 kilometers, so a net capacity of between 50 and 60 kWh -usable- will be concentrated between the axles.

Re: Toyota bZ4X electric SUV concept unveiled

Toyota bZ4X – less than 100 units bound for Thailand for late 2022. Price to start around ~ INR 47 lakhs.

Quote:
The big issue is allocation. Apparently, the ASEAN region will only be getting around 100 units, and it’s unclear exactly how many of those are destined for the Land of Smiles. As for pricing, base models are expected to start at around two million baht (RM250k), with range-topping variants costing no more than three million baht (RM380k).

Re: Toyota bZ4X electric SUV concept unveiled

Yes, the e-TNGA platform can be FWD or RWD or AWD according to the model. But why is Toyota still sticking with FWD for the base variants. Almost all other manufacturers have taken the BEV opportunity to go RWD/AWD, even in smaller city hatchbacks. Even RWD hating Volkswagen did!!!

Or is it Toyota just being their super conservative self? This is a company that was the last to adopt RWD in mainstream cars. Even when they did, they introduced it in a lesser popular model, tuned the supension to feel as RWD as possible and even put the engine in the longitudinal layout so that their conservative customers don't get the shock of their life when they open the bonnet.

Re: Toyota bZ4X electric SUV concept unveiled

With EVs, its interesting to see the body shapes moving towards a more hatchback kind of designs in non-SUV/crossover designs. The trunk size is also getting reduced compared to sedans of today. Is this something short term where form/looks are more important than function ?
