1970 Hyundai Pony restored with EV Power This just came into my Instagram feed and got me really excited.
The Hyundai Pony, the Korean auto major's first produced car in the 70s is reimagined as an EV in 2021.
A little history about the Hyundai Pony: The Pony was a basic rugged, rear-wheel hatchback introduced by Hyundai in 1975. The car was then powered by an IC engine provided by Mitsubishi.
The 2021 Heritage concept stays true to the styling of the good old 1975 model but is retrofitted with modern equipment and an unspecified EV motor.
The car has cool and modern pixel LED front and rear lamps (housed in the same retro design).
The cabin was completely overhauled as well, borrowing the Nixie tube theme from Hyundai's current infotainment systems along with a mish-mash of anachronistic elements in an incredibly slick, attractive design that would be an absolute knockout in a production EV. |
