The company has started accepting orders for its prototype electric motor, which is aimed at use in hypercars and other high-output mobility segments.

The new ‘Hyper-EV’ electric motor is developed with compact construction, treating mechanical and electrical components as a single entity. This allows clients to install multiple units on a single vehicle.

The company also stated that it has the capability to develop prototype motors according to the specific requirements of the clients.

Yamaha expanded to the electric motor development business in 2020. The company last year introduced smaller electric motors between 35 – 200 kW (47 BHP to 268 BHP) for automobiles and other mobility applications.

The new 350 kW electric motor is their latest and most powerful offering. This new ‘Hyper-EV’ motor is said to be showcased at the Automotive Engineering Exposition 2021 event, held in Yokohama next month.
