Lexus LF-Z concept previews brand's electric future.



Lexus has showcased its EV ambitions with the radical LF-Z Electrified concept, which “incorporates driving performance, styling and technologies that Lexus plans to realise” with its next-generation electric cars

The LF-Z concept gives clues as to what to expect from the brand’s new-age electric cars. Unlike Lexus’s first production EV, the UX 300e, the LF-Z sits atop a new dedicated EV platform and appears lower-slung, with fewer SUV-inspired design cues, in line with its performance aspirations.

The LF-Z is powered by a rear-mounted motor producing 536bhp and 516lb ft and is equipped with a new Direct4 four-wheel drive system that can send power to the front, rear or both axles as required. The 0-62mph sprint can be claimed in 3.0sec and the top speed is 124mph.



A 90kWh lithium ion battery is mounted lengthways under the car’s floor. It can charge at up to 150kW and offers a WLTP-certified range of 373 miles.





The interior layout which Lexus refers to as a cockpit, suggests a driver focus for the new EV family. An augmented reality head-up display and steering-wheel mounted controls seek to minimise driver distractions, while low-mounted displays, pillarless doors.



A dimmable panoramic roof are said to create a “feeling of openness”.

Looks nice, like the next gen RX / NX / UX . Exciting times. My only concern: Toyota Lexus doesnt get greedy and prices them so expensive as Jaquar and Mercedes has done. We need affordable EV not 1 crore EV.

Toyota-Lexus were the pioneers of the hybrid 25 years ago long before others stepped into that arena. I have no doubt, given their thorough and step by step methods and their R&D core they will come up with some of the best EVs. They will I believe design new cars around the flexibility EV traction offers rather than what we have today which is old style designs with EV traction fitted in. As I said in my thread below the EV has flexibility of design not present in an ICE car and we will see cars soon that don't look like anything we are familiar with.

Lexus has confirmed that the LF-Z Electrified Concept could actually be a production model within the next 14 months.







The road-going version of the Lexus LF-Z Electrified will feature the same e-TNGA platform as the Toyota bZ4X Concept. Lexus noted that the vehicle may not look exactly like the concept but will certainly have “similarities” to it.
