Aston Martin is planning an onslaught of new models and new versions of existing models in the next few years. The expansion will include a number of different variants of the DBX, including perhaps a DBX V12, and the manufacturer is reportedly planning a duo of all-new electric vehicles.

Autocar is quoting a report from Financial Times based on an interview of the newspaper with Aston Martin’s chairman Lawrence Stroll. Speaking to the publication at the brand’s HQ in Gaydon, he confirmed the two new zero-emissions models will go into production in 2025. The two vehicles will be a sports car and an SUV.

the high-riding electric vehicle will be manufactured in Wales where Aston Martin currently produces the DBX. In turn, the EV sports car will be assembled at home in Gaydon. Both should be released to the market in 2025.

Similar to some of the manufacturer’s combustion-powered models, the new electric models will most likely rely on technology from Mercedes-Benz, which currently owns a 20-percent stake of the British firm. Aston Martin still doesn’t have a dedicated EV platform and an electric drivetrain, and the cooperation with Mercedes could be the answer to all its problems in the short to mid-term.

2025 will be too late for the gentleman's marquee. Taycan has proved that electric sports cars will sell more than the gasoline counterparts, because most people who can afford the car new will appreciate the fact that the car is fast ,good looking and most importantly maintenance free as they will most likely own dozens of other cars. It's only the enthusiasts who will most likely be buying used who complain of lack of exhaust note and "FEEL".

So you see lots of opportunities for exciting, electrified Aston Martins?

Yes, absolutely. For the mid-engine program you have to have plug-in hybrid. Technology transfer with Mercedes allows us to get a plug-in hybrid into a DBX as well, maybe two years from now, and there’s probably even a chance to do something with DB11 and DBS.

When will we see the first pure electric Aston Martin?

In 2025 or 2026, our next-generation sports car. It’s a given. When it comes to an electric platform, you create one that serves sports cars and SUVs, two doors and four doors, you can be creative. So you merge platforms.

Could you take a whole electric platform from Mercedes?

We could do that, that’s part of the technology transfer discussion. There’s a chance for the EQS platform, but is it the right platform for a sports brand?

Can an Aston Martin still have character when it’s electric drive?

What does the typical Aston Martin stand for? It’s a beautiful car, you need a rebel and a gentleman in one, and we can achieve that. You can maintain emotion. I did some exercises with having additional shakers in a car, because emotion is all senses.
