Here is a little light hearted Sunday jocularity.
The pic (which a friend sent), shows a Jaguar blocking the Electric Car Charger.
Take 1: It’s a Jaaag after all. So it’s fine.
Take 2: Perhaps it is a Roar of protest against all this woke-ist nonsense, by a marvellous piece of engineering in the form of a Glorious ICE engine.

Even though I am quite a fan of EV motoring fact is EV and ICE both have their different place in the world of automobiles for the next 15 to 20 years. A great deal of the Jaguar's image and joy of motoring came from the throb and powerful roar of those Jaguar ICE engines. No EV can replace the thrill, manliness, image and mean sense of power that emits from a V-8 or a V-6 or 6-in line. Our everyday cars have a role as an EV but not a Jaguar or BMW 3 or a Ford Mustang- those cars are meant for a wholly different role. With cars like these you are not selling mobility; instead you are selling manliness, class, a certain wickedness, motoring joy, etc. Alas, some one at jaguar {do not miss the lower case}did not quite understand that.

Till then I will savour the joy of soaking in the powerful feline beauty of these beasts of yesteryears......

Gerry McGovern, Creative Director of JLR, has delivered some brilliant work recently with Range Rovers. I can't fathom how the Jaguar revival, poised to cost close to Bentley, look like this.

I'd wait for tomorrow for the actual reveal.

As for the outrageous ad about the rebranding - Regardless of the fact that a car re-brand video has no car in it, and that it looks like a mega woke campaign, it has reached its goal. Jaguar has got the world talking about it. I have listened to several Podcasts already.
If the design reveal tomorrow shows a dud, Jaguar is dead.

I belive it's little too early for a brand like Jaguar to go all electric. Long nose and swooping headliner is surely unlike any other EV in the market today. For the sake of Jaguar fans across the world I really hope they succed in whatever they are trying to achieve. Heart says we should give them a chance but head says, what are they even smoking

Not sure about the design and the choice of the color to unvail new cars but he is damn right about the 'shock' aspect!

Few simple questions. Do concept cars match in dimensions (more or less) with the final production version? If yes, please let me know how does one get into the car. It looks terrible ergonomically. Thanks to the long bonnet, the forward visibility looks terrible. Do they plan to compensate by having cameras (like the rear)?

So as far as I see:

1. They do not care about efficiency (or rather somehow the engineering team has found a new solution to Navier Stokes)

2. They do not care about ergonomics, at least does not look like from the dimensions

3. They do not care about (conventional) styling.

Copy nothing unfortunately looks like reinventing the (dare I say) square wheel to me.

Any way great job by the presenter, I will have a tough time keeping a straight face.

Continuing with ad campaign theme the reveal was intended to grab attention with it's almost cartoon type colours and dimensions. The actual car's proportions will be like this.

You need to understand that they want to delete the ordinary. They don't want me, you or some Tom, Dick and Harry.

They want to be another Rolls-Royce and Bentley and move higher than Range Rover. They want to delete or forego 85-90% of their customers and want the elite 10-15% who have the money to splurge. If you want to be something special and want to portray at elite or flamboyant, what is wrong in loosing some fuel efficiency and project a bold look. This is what they are doing by not mimicking Tesla like styling that is purely ordinary. Their average buyers are people who spend USD 55k and they want rich an effluent who can spend USD 1.25-2k and they don't want numbers. They maybe want to sell to the elite a max of 1200-1500 cars a year in the whole world akin to the top 2 elite brands mentioned earlier.

For that they want to show that they are powerful and bold and the car needs the look. They have matched the rear design of the Jaguar e-type that only the super rich bought in the 1960s. That is what they said delete ordinary and they have managed to get the heads turn and the eye balls rolled.
