The stress of driving an electric is not going to disappear until many of these superchargers are in each city and on the highways.

Mile-for-mile, India will require far fewer Superchargers than USA/EU/China.

USA has ~2,60,000 km of highways while we have only half that ~ 1,30,000 km.

Then again, sales of luxury cars themselves are <50K units pa. Not all would be Tesla EVs — so even within charging stations, just 2 dual gun booths (total 4 cars can be charged) will be more than enough for Tesla.

We don’t know if Tesla would be opening up superchargers to non Tesla EVs in India yet. EU is confirmed to get that.

The company needs to comply with the foreign direct investment (FDI) guidelines related to single-brand retail, including local sourcing norms, to sell directly in India

Apple and Ikea — were engaged in talks with the government long before the sourcing norms were eased under the single-brand retail route.

So I cancelled the booking after waiting for 4 years. I was one of the first few to book from India. Honestly it is an insult to hold the booking for so long and then not even be acknowledged for it from the company be it whoever whatsoever company. They're here to make money like everyone else but customer service is horrible. There is no dedicated Helpline Number or Email Id for your grievances, neither did they even have the courtesy to keep the early booking holders in the loop news wise or reward them with something even small like a scale model car for their faith and trust. Heck, I dropped an email when I went to California for a holiday to visit the factory and I got a reply that since I have not bought a Tesla I cannot be given that option, I replied that I have a booking which has not translated into a sale due to them not launching in my country and they were like we know you have a booking but since its not a sale we cannot allow or give you permission. What kind of customer service is this ?? Very disappointed with the brand. Would I buy one if it launches tomorrow ? Im not sure, depends entirely on the product, experience, reliability, service, no more waiting now, no more blind faith. Lessons learnt.

Welcome to Tesla world. I would love to see how Indian consumers who want premium experience when buying such an expensive car are treated like they have bought an entry level hatchback. You better be good at tweeting because that might illicit a response.

I don't have Twitter but I rather buy a EQ model if this is what is expected from them service wise. They have the early mover advantage but MB EQ brand is quickly catching up. Let's see how things pan out. I am impressed with Tata for the EV products just that they lack the range.

Completely agree with you, I am waiting for the the EQ series as well. Love the Hyperscreen and the build quality is way better than my Model 3. Also being a F1 fan, Mercedes all the way for me now.

So far my dad who was really skeptical of buying Nexon EV really loves driving it now, hopefully with new cars in pipeline Tata will introduce some long range variants.

Success is relative isn't it? What is success for a car costing 30 lacs+

Would the inability to gain 1% of the market mean Tesla will be unsuccessful in India?

Would outselling the likes of 3 series, C-class etc.. make Tesla successful?

For Tesla's next annual meeting it can add a line saying 'India operations started opening up new markets' and plenty of Teslarati looking for any form of good news to help share prices.

If Tesla creates an India specific package in the 15 lac ballpark, backed by frugal engineering inside an attractive package, in my opinion that's when Tesla will find real success in India.

Tesla Model 3 hits a speed breaker in literal sense. The low ground clearance of just 140mm is too low and the car has faced major challenges in crossing the speed breakers.

Our sources tell us the Indian arm of IDIADA Automotive Technology – the agency responsible for testing the Model 3 – found that the car bottomed out on 160 of the 200 speed breakers it attempted, and has recommended re-engineering the suspension to increase the ground clearance by 25mm to 165mm.

Read the article yesterday, they are speculating a ₹60-70L ex-showroom price bracket for the Model 3.

They also mentioned that the ground clearance is too low and the poor thing scrapped almost all speed breakers they went over even moderate sized ones!
