Re: Renault Zoe EV spotted testing in India

This is good news. We need more city cars in the EV space. The 2020 Zoe has about 390ish Kilometres range in the WLTP. Pricing continues to be the challenge for Renault. Let us hope they do it right.

Re: Renault Zoe EV spotted testing in India

If Renault prices it close to 10-12 Lakhs ex showroom, it could really launch things up for the brand in India like it did with the duster.
I do not expect Renault to offer this car below 15-16 lakhs but if they are able to provide it for say 12 lakhs ex showroom, it will undercut the Nexon EV and will effectively cost around 11 Lakhs on road in Mumbai and Delhi after subsidies. And a 52KW battery will be a game changer. Really hope Renault prices it well

ALSO, this is an older model. Renault now has a new Zoe with better interiors compared to the boring ones on this test mule.

Re: Renault Zoe EV spotted testing in India

This is first gen Zoe and their latest one is off the charts sales in EU. More than the best selling EV in EU, it is now the second best seller globally after Tesla on last few months. I don't think they will be able to price it below 2 MINR as they don't have any news of battery assembly plant in India. But if they do launch it sub 1.5 minr, this will be a hit.

Re: Renault Zoe EV spotted testing in India

While the size and specs are similar to the Nexon EV, the battery pack is almost twice as big. No way this is be priced at anything less than 20L. And at that price it’s biggest problem will be the spartan cabin. Seriously, what is it with Renault and lousy interiors? Why can’t they take a leaf out of Kia or MG or even Tata’s playbook and create a cabin with a pleasing ambience and good materials? Look at that dash. The car will be dead on arrival.

Re: Renault Zoe EV spotted testing in India

I've seen this a couple of times in Chennai last year. I'm not sure if this is being used as a test vehicle.

When I spotted this last year, it was used to ferry Renault - Nissan officials ..

Re: Renault Zoe EV spotted testing in India

The car costs 29000 pounds in the UK, i.e., close to 28 lakhs when converted to INR . Yes, the range and battery capacity are very good but I honestly don't see any market for this for mainly 3 reasons. First, it is very expensive for the average customer (direct import will further increase the price), second is the lack of charging infrastructure yet in our country and third is it being a hatchback. Hatchbacks and premium prices don't go well in India, else we would have been enjoying the VW Golf and the rest already.

For anyone looking to buy an EV for just city run-abouts, the Nexon perfectly fits the bill. 200km range is perfectly fine for the city. And for those who do not like the design of Nexon, upcoming Altroz EV will perfectly sweeten the deal and will be cheaper & lighter than Nexon as well.

Renault! Why do you have to choose the most hideous of interiors for every other car that you sell in India. I am unable to say which is more depressing - the steering wheel or the dashboard!

They'd probably launch the Zoe EV with red accents and decals. Something that they did with the 2020 BS6 1.3 turbo Duster!

For everyone hating the interiors, which is basically everyone, here are the latest interiors for the Renault Zoe. The Zoe got an update in 2019 internationally. Renault Zoe EV spotted testing in India-9a0704786abd43e5ba69b461c45cf7fe.jpeg

Re: Renault Zoe EV spotted testing in India

This is really good news, the ZOE is well received in europe and hopefully, it will give the JOLT Renault deserve, If not 52kwh, they can downsize the capacity to 40ish and offer it less than 20L.

Re: Renault Zoe EV spotted testing in India

Being the leaders with EV technology, neither Nissan or Renault have been able to capitalise at least in the EV space where the race was not related to their entry into the Indian market.

Anyhow, I believe to remain in the race & tech showcasing, Renault plans to introduce the expensive sub4M premium hatch in India. Will serve two purposes
1. Top Down approach before the Kwid EV is introduced
2. Remain relevant in the EV race before the Chinese take over with low cost models

Re: Renault Zoe EV spotted testing in India

Looking at Hyundai Kona's sales numbers it looks highly impossible that REnault would launch Zoe in India any time soon.

But one interesting point to note from Chinese auto scene is - Success of SAIC-GM-Wuling Mini EV in China, is it good idea if Tata Motors revive Nano car with electric powertrain ?
Our Nano looks superior than this GM-SAIC mini $4~5000 car.

Is INR3.0 Lakh mini electric car for City with range 150km/charge a good option and is doable in India?

Nano’s bike sized fuel tank and minuscule range played its part in giving the car a bad name. If the car is ever revived, the only thing small about it can be its size. For everything else it has to be benchmarked against something like the WagonR, not Alto. A 150km claimed range will be another disaster. They already offer that on the electric Tigor and we know how bad the car is.

I truly believe that the kind of performance, refinement and range the Nexon EV currently offers should be their minimum baseline going forward for all segments. Anything less than a realistic 180-200km on full charge will not be accepted in the market for any segment.

Why heated seats and wheel in India?
Are they just testing here?
