Five Genesis electric cars trademarks have been applied by Hyundai Motor Company in India.



Models are eG80, eG90, eGV70, eGV80 and eGV90. They comprise of two sedans and three SUVs.

eG80 could be a luxury electric saloon car.

Good move by Hyundai to move up the ladder. They have successfully done this with Kia and Genesis could give the upcoming luxury electric car onslaught a good run.

At this point, any brand making moves into the EV space is a welcome move. Its category and infra building time, fighting for market share is far ahead of the road. The more the merrier, I say!

It will be an effective differentiator too. Petrols & Diesels have been done to death in the luxury segments, and a Hyundai-backed luxury car will have a tough time competing, doing the same thing.

A good electric luxury car, however? Nice way to attract premium customers.

Genesis G80 sedan spied in India.

The new Genesis G80 has been spotted on the road in Mumbai for the first time since its international debut.

The new G80 sedan was revealed in international markets in March 2020, following the debut of the brand’s first SUV model.
• Indian market under consideration for Genesis brand launch
• Not known if the G80 sedan will be sold in India

Genesis was looking to enter the Indian market, with the first model set to be an SUV. The brand currently has two SUVs on sale in global markets – the GV80 and the Hyundai Tucson-based GV70 – though it’s not yet known which could be the first to arrive.

There is no word yet on the company’s plans to bring its sedan line-up to India, though the G80 could be on the cards at a later stage.
