American racer Tanner Foust will pilot a heavily modified version of the new Volkswagen ID 4 EV in the formidable Mexican 1000 rally this year.















Modified by Rhys Millen Racing, the race-prepped version of the ID 4 is based on the rear-wheel-drive production car and equipped with the top-rung 77kWh (net) battery pack. The 201bhp powertrain, Volkswagen said, is completely unmodified.

VW ID.4 GTX Is A Performance EV With 295 HP And AWD That Hits 100 KMP In 6.2 Sec







The new ID.4 top model is due to hit the market in summer 2021 and is powered by two electric motors. The achievement? 220 kW (299 PS) ! That's enough to accelerate the 4.58 meter long GTX to 100 km / h in 6.2 seconds. That's more than two seconds faster than the regular version, which takes 8.5 seconds to sprint. At the same time, the 486 kilo 77 kWh battery should have a range of up to 480 km, which is around 40 kilometers less than the normal ID.4 with a 77 kWh battery. VW specifies the consumption of the Sport-ID.4 at 18.1 to 19.1 kWh (according to NEDC).

Thanks to rear-wheel drive, the electric car has a turning circle of 10.20 meters and is therefore compact car level. In terms of dimensions, the ID.4 ranks between the Tiguan and its Allspace variant :

VW ID.4 Successfully Completed NORRA Mexican 1000 Off-Road Race.

Fresh from winning the 2021 World Car of the Year award last month, the Volkswagen ID.4 has now been announced as the first production electric vehicle to complete the National Off-Road Racing Association (NORRA) Mexican 1000 off-road race in the Baja peninsula or Mexico.

The successful attempt was meant to showcase the capabilities of the ID.4’s powertrain in incredibly demanding conditions and terrain. Out of 90 vehicles entered the race, the EV was one of the 64 vehicles that managed to cross the finish line while only receiving a few modifications.

It's a huge success as the ID.4 has become the first electric car that ever entered this event. Moreover, ID.4 completed the entire race as one of 64 vehicles out of 90 total (29% did not complete the race).

The car had a stock powertrain and an 82 kWh battery pack with a modified off-road suspension and racing interior

The NHTSA does not carry out an offset-deformable barrier test or evaluations of crash prevention technology (rather, they simply indicate they're there). The 90º side MDB* test has a different configuration to that used by other NCAPs/IIHS/ECE95 and should not be compared. Pedestrian protection is not currently evaluated by the NHTSA but is expected and hoped for soon.

I was at the dealer 3 weeks ago and took some pictures of the ID.4. The car ismuch bigger than the ID.3.
Both cars have rear drum brakes which are very practrical in winter conditions.

Chinese market 2021 Volkswagen ID.4 X scores 'Good' ratings in crash tests by the C-IASI (China Insurance Automotive Safety Index), showing comparable performance to the US-spec car assessed by IIHS in similar tests.

The model scored 'Good' ratings in a 25% offset frontal rigid barrier test, an old IIHS-like MDB side impact test, and pedestrian headform and upper/lower legform impactor tests.

The result comes as a relief after SAIC-Volkswagen's Chinese market-only 2019 Passat model scored a poor rating on the 25% offset rigid barrier test due to lack of curtain airbags and extensive deformation of the passenger compartment.

VW plans to cut its workforce size as demand for EVs are skewed.

With demand for electric vehicles seem low, Volkswagen is likely to reduce the prices of I.D 4.


Volkswagen said, it would cut the number of jobs at the electric car plant. Zvikauu in his native Germany due to weak demand.

There will be 12 employees(temporary) left after the end of the 269-month contract, according to VW. Details will be determined in the coming days in consultation with the workers' council.
