Re: Mahindra Atom electric quadricycle spied testing in Chennai

Mahindra's electric quadricycle, Atom is now finally homologated.

Available in 4 variants with two battery-pack options (7.4kWh and 11.1 kWh) and optional AC. Peak power output of approx 10 BHP.

At last!!!

Hope they launch this in the market soon, with good pricing.

And definite improvement over Tata in one area.

While in the Nexon, they have imported the whole motor and battery pack from Chinese companies, here it is only the battery cell from a state owned Chinese company. The motor and battery pack seems to be by Mahindra itself.

Does this compete with Autos? Looking at the barebones interiors, it looks like this is meant mainly for the commercial/taxi segment. I wonder what kind of range this motor + battery combination will deliver.

Nice , so the consumption is rated at 90wh/km for 7.5KWH variant and 106wh/km for 11KWH variant translating to around 80-110 km on 100% batteries.

We need more of these on the roads and autos should be banned atleast in big cities. People are petitioning for the same as well.

Atleast in cities like Delhi/Noida, E-rickshaws and regular ones are immensly helpful in last mile connectivity. The away Atom is designed ( as seen from photos), it cannot be used as a people mover and hence won't be a suitable replacement for rickshaws.
