Porsche India is planning to bring its electric car Taycan to India by the end of May 2020, the company said during the launch of Macan facelift on 29th July. The global launch of the Taycan will be around September 2019. Porsche will import CBUs (completely built units) of the Taycan to India.

Porsche India has also tied up with local five-star hotels to offer charging to Porsche customers. The Porsche Taycan will be showcased in India at the upcoming 2020 Auto Expo.





Derived from an eastern dialect, Taycan is pronounced ‘tie-can’ and means ‘lively young horse’, a reference to the Porsche badge.

Expected specs of the global Taycan -

• 90kWh battery
  
• 2 electric motors producing an equivalent of 600bhp
  
• 0 - 100kmph in under 3.5 seconds.
  
• Range of around 500km on a single charge. The brand is also said to be working on a new fast-charging system; an 800-volt system, which will add 100km of range in just 4 minutes.

Porsche is set to enter the performance EV market in India with its Taycan. The German carmaker’s first all-electric car is expected to be available in three variants, including the high-performance Taycan Turbo S with up to 761hp on tap – 115hp more than the Audi RS e-tron GT, the most powerful EV currently on sale in India.

As an EV owner while it's great to see more EV options entering the market it's just a shame they are all in the 1cr+ price range. Looking forward to more launches in the 30-60lakh range so I can upgrade my Nexon EV
