Re: MG EZS electric SUV to be built in India

MG Motors UK has got more than 2000 orders for the ZS EV , with reviews being pretty positive. The car is powered by a 44.5-kWh water-cooled, lithium-ion battery pack can be replenished to 80 percent in about 30 minutes using a fast charger.

It's great to see that we are finally getting the same technology at almost the same time. High time it became a norm.

Look and feel it seems it is miles ahead of kona, kona simply did not have the aspiration value associated with it. If it comes at 20l price then this is going to be my next car, especially if the fit and finish is as described in the video

Re: MG EZS electric SUV to be built in India

The fit and finish looks really good. A lot of VW influence there. This could take off pretty well. The Kona is smaller than the ZS EV. MG looks like it has a winner on its hands.

Shapur Kotwal is saying MG will be bringing the facelift version to India. The facelift version looks really good, hope MG do bring it. The current one isn’t looking like something from 2020!

I think Rajeev Chaba had confirmed in an interview that it'll be the facelift that'll be launched. The car that Autocar and Overdrive tested was pretty barebones as far as the entertainment system is concerned. In the same interview, Mr Chaba had confirmed that the ZS will also have the connected car features that the Hector has.

So let's see. The ZS EV vs the Kona

Pros

1. Space. The ZS has a lot more space.
2. Bigger battery.
3. Connected car tech

Cons

1. The Kona regens faster
2. Hyundai reliability

The Kona regens better so the verdict is out which car has more range.

MG ZS EV has bigger battery but Kona has 10% more range (289 km vs 263 km) as per official WLTP rating (official EU rating). Hyundai EV models (Kona and Inoiq) are among the best in terms of efficiency. They also use LG Chem batteries which are better than CATL batteries used by MG. Major advantage for ZS over Kona is space.

Its good to see competition in the EV space and hopefully MG will bring the prices down.

MG ZS EV vs Nissan Leaf - Review

Winner: MG ZS EV

Quote:
It’s far from a perfect EV, but the MG offers more range, better charging, stronger performance and equal efficiency to the Leaf, while it gets as much kit for less cash. On this basis the MG just edges the Nissan – it’s a good first EV effort from the Chinese-owned British brand.

If they could carry the quality and interior layout of this into Hector

I dont know if Indian car makers can really do anything better in the electric segment. They might face an uphill task more than the current ICE engine vehicles.

MG pricing will undercut Hyundai's. And add the added space advantage, you've got a winner.

It's the Volkswagen effect I wish we could see the same finish in the Hector but the price point is different and for a car the size of the Hector, there are other costs like the Fiat engine that needs to be factored in.

Although, the quality is on par with the competition in the segment.

The ZS EV interior quality is better than the Kona imho.

The ZS EV will come with an air purifier.

Quote:
The climate control of the electric SUV features a built-in PM 2.5 air filter and its effectiveness is showcased in the source video. In the UK market, the air filter is only offered on the top-spec Exclusive variant of the MG ZS EV.

Re: MG EZS electric SUV to be built in India

The official launch of the ZS EV should be in December while the dealerships will get the car in January.

If you pause the video at 0:50, you can see the ZS EV in the back, to the right side
