I've got information from an unverified source that the battery pack on the ZS EV will hold good to claimed range figures for 2,00,000 kms post which it'll deteriorate by upto 30%.

I'm trying to verify the same and get more details. If these are the numbers, it's a pretty good figure. That's a lot of miles before there will be significant range degradation.

I think the time has not yet come to go for electric. Looking forward to couple of years down the line when electric vehicles to be more affordable and efficient..

time has to go for electric, just that the time varies for person to person. Technology/Product only become affordable/efficient/improves only when there is adoption of the same, no one would want to invest in a technology which no one would be using, that's how market works.

Yep, it scored a fifer in the stringent E-NCAP!! Kudos to MG. Suddenly the badge has an ace up its sleeve while challenging the KONA. Talk of doing homework well. If the same spec car comes to India showrooms, great. Even if not, guess the car structurally is good enough to score well in G-NCAP anyway.

First Cut of MG Electric in Bangalore.

I had been to the MG showroom on a lazy Saturday evening while i was driving back home after visiting my friend and got a glimpse of the MG Electric.

Vehicle is kept for display only in the KalyanNagar showroom on ORR beside the Renault Showroom.
  • The test drives are not available yet and will commence soon after its launch in January 2020.
  • The speculated prices are expected to be around 22-24 Lakhs with zero road tax in Bangalore.

Vehicle looked very impressive to me. Could not explore it in full depth as it was a very short visit.
The one kept for display was an imported unit (CBU) and looked clean without the "Internet Inside" badging.
I was told that the CKD version of CBU will go on sale in India post launch and not the one which was displayed in the showroom.
  • The interiors are very premium and looked almost like an Audi A3 sedan.
  • The driving range is quite impressive which is 340 km on full charge. ( Claimed ) but in reality depends on the driving conditions.
  • It is feature packed and fully loaded. ( Check out the brochure for more detailed information )
  • Comes built-in with a big panoramic sunroof. It has got different drive modes just like the KIA Seltos.
  • It is not as big and spacious as Hector ( which i call it a 1BHK)
  • The under thigh support at the rear is just average. The boot space also I felt was more or less similar to KIA Seltos.
  • It is powered by an electric motor that generates 142 PS of power with 350 Nm of torque. ( Just WOW )
  • The vehicle had Michelin Primacy 3ST Tyres ( 215/50 ) R17.
  • The sales consultant told me that they would set up a fast charging unit free of cost at our preferred location ( Home/Office ).
  • However if the preferred choice is Home, then an approval for 7 Kilo Watt would need to be taken from Electricity board.
  • The tail gate and the passenger seat are not electrically powered as the hector.

Please Note: Not sure what all will be packed into the Indianized Version.

The ZS EV Review by Autocar is out.

The ZS also has a strong backing with the five years/unlimited-kilometre warranty, five years of no labour charge and five-year free roadside assistance.

The ZS is a highly promising e-SUV – one that can effectively set the tone for other upcoming electric vehicles in the Indian market.
