Re: The Rivian Electric Pickup Truck

Rivian R1T review by Doug DeMuro. It received an overall Doug score of 73/100 points, which is the best pickup result ever.

Re: The Rivian Electric Pickup Truck

Rivian has released a new video that showcases each of the eight drive modes available on the R1T—four for the road and four for when the road ends.

Re: The Rivian Electric Pickup Truck

I came across Rivian on Ewan McGregor's show Long Way Up, where he and Charlie Boorman bike 13,000 miles from the tip of South America to the US. The R1T is used as a support vehicle for the trip.

Long Way Up is on Apple TV+.

Here is an article on this. And another one

Re: The Rivian Electric Pickup Truck

Weird issue with LED Headlights on Rivian truck:
The headlights are very efficient and produce less heat thereby causing problems in snowy climate.

2023 Rivian R1T electric pickup truck aces its first IIHS crash test

The Rivian R1T has earned the IIHS's Top Safety Pick+ award.

Quote:
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) released the results of its crash testing for the vehicle and found that it earns top marks across the board.

In terms of small overlap crash testing on both the driver’s and passenger’s sides, the truck earns the highest “Good” rating. It does so in tests of moderate overlap crashes, side crashes, roof strength, and head restraints, too.

Its headlights are also rated as “Good” (not a given in the realm of pickup trucks), while its front crash prevention system is rated as “Superior” (the highest possible result in that category) for both vehicles and pedestrians. Even the ease of use of the latch system for seat belts and child restraints is rated as “Good.”

In fact, it gets “Good” ratings in all crash worthiness and crash avoidance categories, and all 40 subcategories, too, barring one. The only “Acceptable” rating (the second-best result possible) it receives is in “rear passenger head protection” during a side collision.

Re: The Rivian Electric Pickup Truck

They've even made an appearance in the very isolated capital of Alaska. This was taken and texted to me a couple of days ago by a friend at the docks just down the road from me (she was teasing me since I can't stand electric anything, and drive a gas guzzler car and truck ). I'd be curious to know how that truck handles the Alaskan cold. We've got a cold wave coming in the next couple of days with low temps of -20C.

Rivian charging at the docks.
