This should be good. The XUV 3OO is a great CSUV and with increase in length of the 4OO, the main pain point (small boot) should be addressed as well.

Pricing would be key here. If they can undercut the Nexon EV by a couple of lacs and provide similar range, they will be able to garner good sales, especially given the long waiting periods of the Nexon EV. Good to see some competition in this segment.

Mahindra has chosen 8th September for Xuv400 unveil a day prior to the World EV Day which is observed on 9th September every year.

IMHO XUV400 will be a better product than Nexon EV Prime/Max just like its counterpart. So, It would be priced on par with Nexon if not above.

The XUV 300 got its handling and the driving dynamics capabilities absolutely spot on. Now if Mahindra can retain these qualities in the XUV 400 and price it correctly, it surely going to give the nexon EV a stiff competition.

I understand the original Tivoli the car is based on was given the chop to bring the rear within the 4 m requirement - does this mean the EV version is reverting back to the original body dimensions of the Tivoli? If so it would make it look much more natural (it was glaringly obvious which part got truncated in the XUV300). If priced well and with decent capability, could be a very smart product for Mahindra to offer. I feel the small crossover EV segment is the ideal stepping stone product to get Indians (with the spare cash to spend) onto the EV bandwagon, especially piggybacking onto the crazy demand for crossovers and SUVs sector wide.

Very much intrigued to see how it does, hope it does well because it'll be good for the Nexon to have a near like for like competitor, can only hopefully spur Tata to keep bringing their A game. Better yet if the entry level EV sector is buttressed entirely by two home grown offerings.

Well, I guess the performance of the product will speak for itself once it is launched. However, given the early mover advantage that Tata has in the mass market EV space, Mahindra will have to price their new EV very aggressively to break ground. Let's see how this pans out. For now, I am very excited to see our two home-grown manufacturers catering to this segment

It's really very exciting to see two Indian brands competing with each other and dominating the EV space in our country. I am hopeful that this time Mahindra will have a better performing product by looking at the recent past product launches. Mahindra is on a roll since their last few launches.
I believe there will be a very competitive introductory prices for the initial bookings of XUV400.

From a size perspective I expect this car to be priced between the Nexon and the ZS EV. Perhaps at par with the Nexon Max maybe more likely the ideal landing place. This of course is assuming it takes the original Tivoli dimensions and not retaining the xuv300 dimensions.

Who is providing power train and battery technology for the new car? The deal with Volkswagen will take a while. Mahindra seem to have abandoned MESMA platform. What about longevity and reliability of new XUV400? Tata has taken almost two years with good numbers on road to fine tune the firmware and sort out niggles.

This will be definitely on buyer's mind and figuring out all of this will take a while. For the same reason, MG being a global product has definite edge over Nexon EV. But given long waiting time for both TATA and MG, some buyers will be eager to switch to XUV400.

So I met this gentleman from Mahindra R&D at Frankfurt airport last week. He was returning from his trip at somewhere near Cologne where they have tie up with (most probably TUV Rheinland). So some chat lead to the other, finally he pointed out to a launch of the XUV e400 based on existing XUV 300 and not on the Tivoli. So, basically the shape and overall dimensions will remain same, and a similar thing (as Nexon) will be done in the floor space to accomodate the battery. A real world range is expected to be just around 200+ kms as per his words.

Let us wait and watch.
