2021 Porsche Taycan Turbo S Revealed

The 2021 model year switch comes with an array of updates in terms of performance, technology, and appearance.First and foremost, go for the range-topping Turbo S and the 0 to 124 mph (200 km/h) run will take only 9.6 seconds provided Launch Control is turned on. That’s an improvement of 0.2 seconds compared to the 2020 Taycan Turbo S. The quicker performance in the sprint has obviously had a positive impact on the quarter-mile time as well, which now takes 10.7 seconds or a tenth of a second less than before.The 2021 Taycan will be optionally offered with a color head-up display that can be configured to show a navigation display, power meter, and additional pre-sets selected by the driver. The transition to 2021MY comes along with an optional 22-kW onboard charger that cuts the time it takes to charge the battery in half compared to the standard 11-kW charger. Porsche is also adding a new function to charge the battery while maximizing its lifespan by limiting the charging capacity to around 200 kW

Porsche Taycan sets Guinness World Record for longest EV Drift

The record is specific to electric vehicles, and it's already certified by the folks at Guinness World Records as legit and in the books. Porsche set the record at its Porsche Experience Center on the Hockenheimring, letting loose a production-spec rear-wheel-drive Taycan on the 200-meter (656-foot) skidpad. Dennis Retera was Porsche's driver, and he ultimately turned 210 opposite-lock laps for a total of 42.171 kilometers (26.1 miles) of continuous drifting. The session was 55 minutes long and the average speed was 46 km/h (29 mph).

Porsche Taycan sales nearly matched the Boxster and Cayman combined

Taycan first full year of sales crossed the 20,000 sales mark, sold 20,015 EVs



Last year, Porsche sold a combined total of 21,784 (718 Boxster and 718 Cayman models) . The Taycan was just behind that. It’s an impressive first year for the new model.

Porsche has introduced a new rear wheel drive base model to the Taycan electric sedan lineup.





The new Taycan is powered by a standard 79.2-kWh battery and a rear permanent-magnet synchronous electric motor that makes 402 horsepower, though a 93.4-kWh battery is an option.

The base Taycan starts at $81,250, and its EPA-estimated range will be announced by spring
