Actually the ironing board is now defunct, lying in our store on the terrace! As my tool collection predates marriage, she is very tolerant to them, considering that all my tools and instruments occupy one 4 drawer filing cabinet and 4, 4 drawer catalog cabinets.

Time to reorganise, hence current project to consolidate all the tools and instruments into a series of interlocking portable containers, that is why I took some out to check the area required. As it is not possible to create a plastic mould for the tools, I was thinking of using thick plastic boxes with shaped cutouts in thermocole for inserts. Something in line with those tool kit boxes, where every piece is rattle free, while visible. Once I start I will post progress photos.

Guys...bought myself the (Dremel 300 + 25) for Rs.1799,

Surprisingly there was a flexishaft too inside!! though its not mentioned on the content list of the box, seems like some goof up during the packing

It is a hobby tool, and the build, power, handling, etc is nothing like other stuff from the Bosch company, but you only have to need something like this a couple of times to be glad you bought it,

Remember: when you are using those grinding wheels and tools, use eye protection. The goggles are on top of my Dremel box; I cannot ignore them.

Congratultaions. I can guarantee two things...

One is that you will waste money buying attachments that never get used (yes, I did!): the other is that, when its time comes, you will find it really, really useful.

Is Dremel officially available in India ? Google search reported a few forums that said Bosch has brought the brand to the country, and it runs on 230V et al. And do you know anything about the models available and pricing ? Specifically Dremel 4000 with 50 attachments.

I bought mine, from a Bosch dealer, a couple of years ago. The brand belongs to Bosch, I guess, so if they are selling it here, that must be official!

Do you have the 300 ? How has the experience been ? And do you know if 4000 is available in India ?

I read on some forum someone discouraging someone from buying a 4000. Reason : "You'll end up marrying it."

guys...sorry for the late response, I bought my Dremel 300 from Hypercity (@ Inorbit Madhapur), currently the 4000 is priced as Rs. 4600.00 (MRP 7000), 300 is for 1799.00\-

EDIT : Oh, the joy ! My city does have a Bosch dealer. *making evil & diabolical plans with a maniacal glee* The city isn't completely worthless after all. Will give 'em a call tomorrow.

Checked out the prices of some tool kits here in Kochi. THe Bosch one with drilling machine was quoted @ 4.6K and the Skil one @ 2.8K. Seems like bangalore is the best place to get these things

Why? I recently got one Bosch Drill machine (w/o reverse switch) for Rs1700/- with some 5 concrete drilling bits (2mm-10mm diameters). Supports steady and hammer functions. All with 1 year manufacturer warranty with bill.

You must get correct shop and look for correct model.

reverse is very useful --- for removing screws.

Of course, a dedicated electric screwdriver is better, but if one is making do with just a drill ...
