From last 3 years I was using Dashcam in my Hyundai Creta and when I decided to upgraded to BMW X1, I knew I had to get a better dashcam.

I enquired about the BMW advanced car eye 3.0 dashcam but the quotation I got was nothing less than a bomb. It was 65000/- only . With this price it was a staright rejection. Finally I settled on 70mai A510 with STARVIS 2 sensor.

I had installed Dashcam couple of times before this but had never done this on car having airbags in A pillar. Also I was skeptical to do this on my new beamer as improper handling could lead to issues like damaging clips or scratching the surfaces but finally ai decided to do it myself.

Routing dashcam wires in a car having multiple airbags (A pillar, Curtain airbags etc) is far from just tucking the wire inside the panels. Some steps which needs to be followed.

1. Plan the Wiring Route
2. Decide if you need hard wiring or just plug and play using 12V socket. If for most of the time your car is parked in a secured place then hard wiring may not be required.
3. Route the wire along the edge of the windshield towards the A pillar.
4. Handle A pillar with caution if it's holding airbag.
Gently remove the airbag badge behind which there is a screw. You will need Ratchet wrench kit to open the screw and gently take the A pillar cover out.
5. Do not place the wire directly over the airbag.
Run the wire behind the trim, ensuring it stays below or away from the airbag path.
6. Use zip ties to secure the wire to the vehicle's frame, avoiding loose or hanging cables.
7. Finally connect to power source.

Check the wiring to confirm it doesn’t interfere with the airbag system. Reinstall the A pillar cover and other panels, ensuring everything is securely in place.

It's highly advisable to take help from professional if you are not sure about anything in this process. Anything going wrong can compromise the vehicle's safety.

I am planning to install the same dashcam model 70mai A510 for my Slavia but sceptical about the hard wiring part. Will it void warranty? Or could cause problems in future to avail warranty?
Also, if anyone suggest the best place in Delhi to get it installed will be welcome.��

Avoid, I have ordered a very long USB cable, and I am connecting mine using the cigarette lighter adapter. You can hide cables under the interior plastic, and under the dashboard. Anything to do with wiring is risky. Connecting to power source is safer.

It is criminal to charge that much for a 3-4 MP camera. What camera sensor do they use? It is a dual channel setup based on the information I found.

Yes, it is a dual channel setup. Below is the camera sensor detail. QHD(2,560 x 1,440) for front and Full HD(1,920 x 1,080 ) for rear.
– Image Sensor: Windscreen camera 3.69 megapixels 1/2.8''
– Rear window camera 2.07 megapixels 1/2.8''

Seems like a clean install for the 70Mai but have you also wired up the rear dashcam as well? Would be interesting to take a look at the routing for the same.

I was apprehensive about doing a similar install on my x1 few years back so have installed FitCamX (front 4k cam only), it just replaces the IRVM housing and takes power from the IRVM itself, so didn't have to route any wires). If installing just the front camera, that is a decent alternative.

Attaching the images to show the wiring route.
The wire runs down from the A-pillar, follows the weather strip route, and continues along the floor. It then reaches the backseat, where I routed it beneath the parcel tray, bringing it out at the trunk gate's weather strip. The only visible section is at the rear camera's end, which I'm fine with.

I powered the dashcam using the 12V socket. The wire runs beneath the glove box, follows the weather strip of the passenger-side door, and then routes through the A-pillar to the front camera.
