Me and my friend felt the same too and we found that most mainstream speaker systems are simply not capable of such quality audio. We have an old National Dual cassette player with passive radiator and ceramic tweeters and I'm yet to hear another music system with such elegance and tenderness in the audio.

Mostly it has to do with the speaker driver's size. Most soundbars use 3" driver's and they can't really give enough output in the 250-700hz region where the older speakers are easily capable. Couple this with the sub that handles below 200hz and the entire 200-700 hz region is left out.
