white seems better than green. green looks outdated.

Guys has anyone changed their dash lights on a Octavia?

Planning to change a friend's car lights to bright white (Innova style) if possible.

Any luck with the Ikon anybody? The green looks ugly to me i would go red/blue or white if possible and i had opened the speedo console once but didnt manage to find that bulb. Dont know where they have hidden it on top of the console. And where do you get these bulb caps?

Entire dash lighting change in an Innova

Hi all,
During my car pc install, i came across an aesthetic problem. The Innova has white lighting in the instrument cluster and green lighting in the rest of the dash. After installing my MMI controller (it has red lighting from Audi) my car interior was looking like a bordello from the 80s. Since i could not change the MMI lighting i set about changing everything else.

The only place in Delhi that could have LEDs and rubber caps is Lajpat Rai market. So a road trip was called for and Gunbir and me set off. The road trip turned into a Metro trip, which i now think is the best way to go to Old Delhi. I think the only good part of the trip was the food at Vengers and about 5% of Gunbirs jokes, we didnt find either the LEDs or the caps (the LEDs available were not 12v). I did have some rubber caps from USA that i had bought earlier and we decided to improvise and use those.

The dash lighting was comparatively easy, just replaced the green rubber caps with red ones. But the instrument cluster was a complete pain in the backside. Nevertheless, JB and me managed to change all the lighting and it now looks awesome at night.

Finished pic first and install pics after that :

Zak any idea where I can get those blue bulbs you put in the alto ? An year back I saw my friends Swift getting blue lighting for the speedo as well as the indicators. Blue as in high beam blue.

PS it's for my cousin's Swift.

Abhik,

I am on similar quest, but did not find any DIY in action for IKON, I also see others saying for IKON the bulb is projector type( this may only apply for NXT versions -like indiglo dials) not all.

All Ikons have the projected green light on the dash which appear to be indiglo or backlit but there is a simple method to confirm. Just notice if a shadow appers after the indicator needles. If it does then its the projected light.

NHC (not the ZX)

Guys, just wanted to find out if it is possible to change the illumination for a new honda city (not the zx version). Anyone know where the bulbs are available in Bangalore? I am tired of looking at the same orange colour for a long time.

I tried the same job on my OHC a few months back.
Opened the thing
The light got changed but unfortunately the bulbs went ka-boom.
Had to replace the whole thing.

Loss : a few bucks on new bulbs
4 long hours.
