Inching to perfection

I located the dead pedal rubber as a child part of Ciaz's carpet. Did ponder on many ways of fixing the rubber cleanly. I didn't want to use any adhesive directly on the carpet.

The inspiration came from Maruti's Mats itself, where they provide rough velcro strips which hold the carpet very well.

I had some pieces of velcro strips:

Used Araldite/Equivalent to paste the rough part behind the rubber pad:

Mission Accomplished! Best part is it can be removed cleanly if ever need arises.

Re: DIY: Adding a dead pedal / foot rest to your car

I have been searching for this piece of rubber since long, couldn’t find anyone actually selling it as a part. Even enquired about the Morse code rubber of Compass but drew a blank. Thank you Leoshashi for the heads up, will go search for it now from a Maruti workshop. Just hope that the size fits the Ecosport foot rest

Re: Venue comes home! My Hyundai Venue Turbo-GDI DCT Review

My Ex-car, the Baleno RS had a proper pad for the dead pedal, which meant it does not mess up the stock floor pad/mat as I am one of those very few who likes to keep it stock than install all those 2D,3D,7D mats. With the left leg always resting in my Venue DCT, it was slowly starting to mess up the floor area where my left foot would rest and I tried to get a dead pedal pad, but most available online were poorly designed and was not sure if it will go with the rest of the footwell area.

I did search a lot for the part in boodmo, in the Baleno category and just could not find it. Then came Bhpian @Leoshashi with the help. He provided me the part number(of the Ciaz one) and I ordered one from boodmo. I did a different way of installing it than how he did on his XL6, and after a few weeks now, I guess both the ways work well.

Way 1 - Use Velcro and a super strong adhesive to stick the velcro on the pad.
Way 2 - 3M double sided tape.

I went with the second way of 3M double sided tape as a trial and I thought if it gets loose, I would go with a Velcro. But so far, so good.

This is the part number along with the cost.

Applied the 3M double sided tape generously

Final looks. I have a big foot and I checked where my leg rests most of the time. Applied the pad exactly there! The sticker is stronger than I thought and pulling the pad would make the whole OE floor mat to come along with it. This is one mod I would never need a change, atleast I hope so.

Re: DIY: Adding a dead pedal / foot rest to your car

Thanks for the info.
I will try with the same DIY on our Nissan Micra which does not have a dead pedal but has some space to rest your foot which is carpeted.

In my opinion, having a dead pedal next to accelerator pedal helps even more, with the awkward angle the right ankle is forced into while driving.

Took me sometime to finally order this since the minimum order value on Boodmo is 100 bucks. Finally got around to it and it's a good fit for the Ecosport too. Stuck it with 3m tape.

Thanks again!

Got a Hyundai Verna Dead pedal from Boodmo for Rs. 183 and installed it in the Duster.
