Thank you for the detailed Product Preview, Installation details and Review! :thumbs up I am planning to install a dashcam on my car - considering the traffic (and related complications) in Bangalore, and found this DIY to be spot on!
Just that, I wish my car (Honda City 2011) had such an easy access to the fuse box. In fact, you really need to a YOGA & STRETCHING EXPERT to access and work on fuse box of the Honda City. lol:

No doubts these gadgets are gaining a lot of popularity these days and like others, even I get tempted to install it in my car, However could still not convince myself over the actual usage of the device. I mean to me its a nice gadget but will be seldom useful. You can call me old school (driving since '92), yet never too old to learn new charms and latest antics of driving.
Am I heading to new warzones everyday unarmed ?

I somehow never thought about installing a dashcam. Always assumed they were meant for commercial vehicles and cop cars.
Looking at all the data available it makes sense to invest in one.
Thought the daytime clarity was great, I found the reflection of the dash on the windscreen distracting. Would it make sense to move the camera closer to the wind screen to avoid the reflection?
And in the night time recording, the finger stains on the screen were distracting and may pose a problem on the overall usability.

I was not aware of how to use the CPL filter provided in the kit hence the reflections.
Now that I have adjusted it to the best I can extract, the video quality is much better than by initial days standards. Post 25 & 30. Given links below.
Post No.: 25-Adjusted the CPL correctly to reduce the glare and the comparison images of before and after.
Post No.: 30-Sample videos after adjusting the CPL filter.
Thanx A4anurag for your post, finally bit the bullet and ordered for the mini0806, looks like that was the final push needed for my two year research for a dashcam. The fight was between mini0805/0806 and mobius dashcam.
Gearbest was quick to dispatch in 1hour of ordering today!

Have received the second memory card (Samsung 64GB Class 10) yesterday.
Shall report tomorrow with an update if the card switching happens or not.
Awesome DIY Anurag, with attention to detail in recording all the steps including tools, procedure etc. I am going to use this thread as reference for my own DIY :)
I have installed a dashcam in my Polo GT where I have taken the supply from the cabin light. However, as this signal is on when the car is unlocked, sometimes if I forget to lock the car, the camera keeps recording and draining the battery.
I am now planning to use your method to power my dashcam from the fuse box using the ignition signal. The power supply that I got with my camera is similar to a hardwire kit once I cut out the plug that connects to the 12V socket.
From your post, I think I need the following.
1. Fuse tester
2. Fuse tap
3. Fuse box layout
4. Trim remover
5. Heat shrinking tube
6. Hot air source
Can you help me with link to get the fuse tap - preferably an Indian site so that I can get this quickly?
For the fuse layout, I will open the fuse panel and check if there is a layout diagram and spare fuse slot etc.
OT, I think we both are using the same auto dimming IRVM :)

I chose the Auto shipping - free method. the only addition is added insurance. Not sure which post is handling it yet. the vendor sent a photo proof packing.
Superb DIY work Anurag! It's only after I read this thread that I realized the importance of having a Dashcam. I will also go for it now. Rated 5 Stars!

Though the whole process for has been clearly explained,( even for dumbos, like me); i would like you to suggest if it can be installed by car electrician or some car entertainment guys, or both. and what should be the reasonable charges. Any reason for choosing class 10 memory card. ( i even dont know, what class represent what usage). If you can throw some light. can i see it from my laptop or mobile, sitting in my office / home, while the car is being driven by the driver, or parked. ( a stupid question, i know). Does it gets affected by extreme heat, which gets build up due to parking in sub. ( in rajasthan, it gets 75 c , inside the vehicle, due to green house effect. if left open. a small opening in the window lets, huge amount of dust and sand. a devils choice.

It can be installed but these electricians etc would go the shortcut way and not install it correctly. That's why I don't prefer them and go the DIY route.

Faster write and read speeds is required for recording HD videos hence it is best to choose a class 10 card so the recording is better and reliable plus seamless.

75 degrees the dashcam won't survive. Here at 45 degrees I get worried about its functionality even though there are numerous hopes provided for cooling but not sure how well it'll withstand.
One thing I do is, after my drive, I unplug it from the mount and keep it inside the glove box.

Switch is happening. Just checked it yesterday. In auto mode I mean.
But for my daily usage, I'll be using it with a single card. Second card would be kept as spare inside. I keep clearing videos if there is nothing significantly worthwhile to store. Hence space in the cars isn't an issue.
