I too had travelled in the Terraplane from Trivandrum which leaves at 1700 Hrs to Ernakulam and was a non-stop service. And at 1710 hrs there was a non-stop Express bus. At times this Express used to catch up with the Terraplane and even overtake it giving its passengers some elated moments.

In 1974 me too had travelled in the (PTC) Pallavan express bus to the then Madras. Initially it did not have the toilet.
This PTC bus had the overdrive introduced as option by AL.

I see Luxuria buses parked in the service lane running parallel to the main double road from Silk Board towards HSR BDA signal. Somewhere near that hospital whose name I forget. Do not look so great as they look in the pics in the website.

re: LUXURIA - Bangalore to Chennai. EDIT : Now renamed to *Luxury* Buses

Had been for a drive to Chennai this weekend. I was speaking to my wife about trying out this service and it seemed quite interesting and we have traveleld by bus only around 3 times in our lives and we planned to leave on friday, so was thinking of taking the friday bus.

As ususal we opted not to go by it and decided to drive donw, Almost 30 kms from chennai, we were at atraffic jam and blocking the road was this bus. We were right behin it and there was some major commotion taking place and from the back nothing was clear. We saw almost 10 -15 cops, lots of other men trying something. Intially we thought there was some kind if trouble. only when we crossed we saw there was a crane in front trying to lift the bus, as it had smashed into another bus.

The enitre front of the bus had gone in by around 4-5 FT and was smashed beyon recognition. If the driver survived, he is lucky

Was sad to see the bus in that state and was happy i never took the service

Did the Blue Hill change the name based on the court order. No updates seen in the papers.

@thedreamcatcher The accident was really bad. Thank God you and your family escaped from the hazzles.

Aren't we rambling on a bit here? The objective of this thread started by Saildrive was to share the experience of the travel & service onboard the bus. So far, there is mostly everything else (!!) by way of comments other than that!

re: LUXURIA - Bangalore to Chennai. EDIT : Now renamed to *Luxury* Buses

The buses are usually parked near the Egattur toll gate in OMR Chennai and found last Friday that it has been renamed to *Luxury* from LUXURIA. Was wondering why and the news of the law suit with AL answered the question. Shouldnt the thread be renamed as well?

Have seen this happening for more than 15 yrs now. eg; VRL. A basic tagging system that has a ref number on both parts of the tag is used to match the baggage with the rightful passenger.

Re: LUXURIA - Bangalore to Chennai. EDIT : Now renamed to *Luxury* Buses

wow. one question though, is it really possible to work on a laptop on a BUS which i am sure shakes and shudders every once in a while, which is a lot less on a train.

One more, Can these kind of seats be fitted into cars, and if yes what could be the cost of such a seat.

@novice_allto

Why should a bus shake and shudder more than a train??

In fact given the right kind of roads and the right kind of tracks neither should shake and shudder at all. And as of now in India, coming up on the right kind of road is lot more likely than coming up on the right kind of railway track.

Re: LUXURIA - Bangalore to Chennai. EDIT : Now renamed to *Luxury* Buses

hey guys,
does anyone have a clue on when they would be starting the services to other cities? esp routes such as Chennai-Hyderabad and Bangalore-Hyderabad?

any other updates on the service? how are the buses holding up? is the quality of the service constant?

I heard that PAI Travels has started a similar service from Managalore to Bombay. They bus has very few seats - the guy said 8, and I refused to believe him. Searched the net also for PAI Travels and came up with no website
