Yes. Interestingly, they charge the same fare as their Leyland AC Sleepers - they are not differentiating between the Volvo and the Leylands when it comes to AC Sleepers.

Here is a pic of one such converted bus:

Interestingly, I did not notice that the bus was a Sleeper till the time I was editing the image!! The bus right next to the Volvo is a Leyland AC Sleeper. (The bus is PY registered since TN does not allow registration of Sleeper buses).

I vaguely remember seeing such a bus. There was another short lasted operator - Star or something like that. They were running a run-down Mark II/III Volvo - they used to be handled by Ensign Agencies/Aashirwad.

Its a 1612, if I am not mistaken.

Another image of the same bus - notice the unique door style. Wonder why they needed a partition between the doors.

Even I was not sure
I claimed it by seeing the 8.25 whlle rims the bus was having as its std only with 1618.
I cannot comment if it was retro fitted.
Also if this was a older BS II it may not be 1618.

The Kerala RTO website says "LPO1313". I'm assuming that it's an LPO1613, as there's never been an LPO1313 on offer. 2009 make, so it must be BS-II, isn't it?

Because that means they can claim 2 doors (entry and exit). WHY?? Rules related to minimum seating capacity in the Kerala Motor vehicle Rules!!!! "Vehicles hae separate entrance and exit can claim a discount of 2 seats if they have a separate entrance and exit; and another 2 seats for emergency exit".

But this bus has a full size door at the rear as well! So this bus has three entry/exit doors in all! Plus the rear glass is nominated as an "emergency exit" as well!

So how many seats will be discounted for, in this bus? There's this "separate entry and exit doors", then there's a door behind the rear axle, plus the emergency exit at the rear - so, a total of 6 seats? Ingenious, I must say!

There has indeed been an LPO 1313 in the past. It used to be fitted with 697 NA engine. I'm talking about late 1980s. Later, 1510 model was introduced which had the same engine but higher GVW.

Is it LP1313, or LPO1313? LPO would be the version with longer FOH, AFAIK.

If I remember correctly, all Tata bus chassis are designated as LPO, the LPT designation being used for truck chassis. I believe the "O" in LPO stands for Omnibus while the "T" in LPT stands for Truck.

Maybe. But I find that the versions with a FOH are designated LPO (LPO1512, LPO1613, LPO1616) while those without a long FOH are designated LP (LP1512, LP1112). Data taken from the official website Tata Buses :: Find My Bus Chassis

LPT has long been used for truck chassis/trucks

Any Idea what is the Full-form of "LP"? "Long Product" by any chance?

I stand corrected. Thanks! After reading your post, I checked a 3-decade old 1210 bus chassis brochure and the model was indeed designated as LP 1210 E. The bus models with long front overhang were designated as LPO. So the "O" in LPO doesn't stand for omnibus, as I used to think.
