I do not believe in these AL or TATA buses, I have been in them paying premium prices because i Had to go. They screw the passengers who are willing to spend by offering them hot sandwiches or hot coffee.

Another Globus SF spotted

I spotted another Globus converted Super Fast yesterday at Alappuzha.
The bus was RR 208 of KNPY [Ex KTM BGLR AC] now doing EKM-KLM.

Funky looking with the single headlamps now. They could've kept open able glass windows. Hope this don't happen to the poor Volvo's down the years. :P

It is sure to happen - very sure. Today's Trivandrum-Bangalore Volvo was cancelled at Kollam following an AC failure - the spare bus is in the workshop already!! KeSRTC is going to the dogs.

Re: The Indian Bus Scene (Discuss new launches and market info here)

lol! seriously those guys at the body building shop must be really innovative to do such mods. Did this bus meet with some accident? why change the HL? I believe volvos wont end up like this, because then the running cost would not be sufficient enough and in any case I hope the technicians are not so heartless to break the 80lakh bus.

Re: The Indian Bus Scene (Discuss new launches and market info here)

@bnai - aren't the Volvos serviced on a per KM basis by Volvo's service center.

@AlfaKilo - I guess they "downgraded" the bus - this is common practise in KeSRTC. New buses are express / SF. Downgraded after 2/ 3 years to FP / LSFP. Downgraded to ordinary after another 4/5 years. The "old age home" is the TVM city service.

And IMHO, asking a person to travel 3 hours in a bus with glass / sliding or whatever for daytime travel in KL would be a good substitute for a 3 year stint in Tihar. ;-D

Re: The Indian Bus Scene (Discuss new launches and market info here)

Saw this Corona Bus, which looked very similar to the Volvo. The bus wasn't sounding any similar to the Volvo, but very similar to the Marcopolo.

But it has to be given to BMTC for trying out with the options available.

Reportedly, Yes. But then KeSRTC was recently in soup for not paying up Volvo, and a few of their buses were almost "seized" by Volvo. Out of the three B7Rs (9400s) that KeSRTC has, one bus always has a problem with its gear box and another has an issue with its Airconditioner - this has been the case for the past year. Its time KeSRTC thinks of replacing them with new buses on interstate routes, and run the older ones on Intra-state routes.

Both the AC Marcopolo and the Corona Skypak are powered by the same 180-hp Cummins Engine!

Here is a pic of its front:

That's a good note from you.
And yes they share the same engine(Cummins ISBe) difference being the Marco's are BS III and Corona is BS IV with SCR.

You think it's going to happen anytime soon? Not with the guys who are at the helm now Like you said somewhere yesterday, the corporation is going to the dogs.

Very true. The current guys are making every effort to ensure that the corporation would shut down by the end of their tenure (or atleast be reduced to mere existence). Good revenue earning routes are disturbed on flimsy pretexts - and finally the route gets cancelled citing poor collection.

The latest casualty is the top grosser Changanassery-Velankanni route - They've rerouted this service via Kottayam-Koothattukulam-Piravom-Muvattupuzha-Angamali - the bus runs some 20kms extra, adding atleast 40-45mins to the running time.

The corporation is going to the dogs for sure.

They indeed are the same. Thanks for reminding about Avion - I remember seeing the same headlamps on some other vehicle, but was wondering what vehicle was that. The same model (headlamp assy) was also used by a private bus operator on the Thrissur-Kozhikode route as well. AFAIK, its a chinese product.
