Re: The Heavy Trucks thread

But the fact is TML does not have any BS3 Cummins engine in 160Hp range as of now. So for application like Tanker(one side load trip), light weight high volume goods etc, the current 2518 is not required (rather, not preferred in the market). When AL offers BS3 2516 with Inline FIP, TML have no other option but to use the 135Hp Cummins engined used in their LP1512 BS3 buses for the time being. Hence we have 2513!
TML's 160 Hp 697series BS3 engine is not much preferred when compared to Cummins in multiaxle trucks segment.

Re: The Heavy Trucks thread

Hopefully the marketing department can push for the 2516TCIC here instead of these new 2513s. This will good for TML too, as it will relieve pressure on TCL, shifting some of its load to the 697 engine. This will help increase the overall volume of engine production.

Re: The Heavy Trucks thread

The cabin is lopsided!!!!

I think this has been in an head-on accident sometime. You can see the lower foot-step on the co-passenger side is missing too.

Saw a frame on its way to cladding. Notice the rear air bellows.

New Age car Carriers from Mosolf for VW

Mosolf - Official car carrier for VW India.
First pics (atleast for me) of tailor made car carrier for VW used by Mosolf. These are developed by Lohr India. With side curtains the GVW of car carrier is much lower than conventional carriers.
Additionally Mosolf is the joint venture between Horst Mosolf GmbH & Co. KG and Transport Solutions India Pvt. Ltd. (TSI) an won the tender bid procedure initiated by VW in 2009.

Re: The Heavy Trucks thread

This image is taken from Siddhi Vinayak Logistics web page.
THis seems to be a B13R chassis.
My question is where is this chassis running in India?
Any trials made by Volvo anywhere in India?
THere were reports that they are looking for Intercity double decker coaches in near future. Could this be a clue.

Re: The Heavy Trucks thread

I dont think SVLL is into buses. This is a chassis being transported by them. Hazarding a guess I say this is a B9R multiaxle chassis assembled in India, but being exported.

This chassis is not B13R or any Volvo, but MBenz. The Benz bus chassis is transported from Pune to Punjab Sutlej for body building.

Re: The Heavy Trucks thread

Today on my way to Cochin, i was surprised to spot this truck. It did not seem to be the normal TML 3118LPT. Looked as if the chassis was stretched in between the lift axle and drive axle. Would it be TML answer to AL's 3123XL (30.5' loading span)! or some unauthorized modifications by the customer?

The chassis does look like the Mercedes Benz multi-axle chassis (first rear axle being driven), but the separation between the driven axle and the front axle seems much lesser than what it is in the MB buses.

Is that tractor a U4018?

This is definitely odd. I don't think such a chassis extension can be done easily. First of all it will require a longer propeller shaft, not to mention heavy modification to the chassis as the axles are no longer in the place they were supposed to be.

The only other way a truck can be modified to such a condition is to take ones already of this length and then add a manually operated lift axle to it. But I guess that would be completely illegal as it would be converting a 25ton GVW truck into a 31ton GVW one.
