They are way better than 3 wheelers.

wheels

doesn't look proprtional (i haven't seen one other than the picture posted here).
the wheels look puny and it seems like the wheel arches can accomodate larger rim sizes.

On the plus side though is the cabin and extra safety and payload that comes with the extra wheel.
its not that noisy
& it is reasonably quick
the quality of interiors is very nice compared to vechical that type

I have driven it

ya i've spotted one in mumbai they have given only 2 cylinders... in comparison of the pay load space its too low also dont you think the wheels are too tiny it looks like borrowed from an auto but they have very less competitors for this one

Maruti has the ammunition to attack this market segment. Pickup version of the Omni van can be competetive on price. No diesel option but LNG version could be competetive.
This model is currently sold in Pakistan as the Ravi.

@ Mpower: Originally the Van (Omni) is what you see in the picture. It was made a peoples carrier for India by adding the rear.

I am not sure if Petrol goods carrier makes sense. LPG is fine for economy, but you need lot of torque to pull a loaded goods carrier, which would be lacking in a Omni.

Omni makes more torque than the Ace, 60 Nm vs 38 Nm. Horsepower is more than double that of the Ace. 30 vs 16! Heck Ace make less power than a karizma. Sooo pulling power should be A.o.k!

Youre right. It was called Carry or Every or something like that. Now
lets see if Tata can make an Omni out of the Ace and vice versa.

Don't you think the Ace front suspension is too antediluvian for a Omni-like van?

But not the running costs...remember this is a commercial vehicle!

Yep, but then the engine is only 700cc and that too NA Diesel. It's purpose is goods carrier, so doesn't need to care for high top speed. It makes that torque at low RPM being a diesel and with proper gearing, it will be equal to (or better than?) Omni for load carrying.

Edit Note: just checked specs of Omni LPG and CNG, they look quite good as well. But, Omni is probably better suited for light loads rather than rugged Ace.
