Have they shut down?
Yes. They've shut shop.

Very unfortunate. How can such an established company get wiped off in 2-2 years

This happened:

Cauvery water dispute: Over 56 buses set on fire at KPN bus depot near Bengaluru

https://www.india.com/news/india/cau...video-1483048/

22-year-old girl led the mob that torched 42 buses for Rs 100 and biryani

They never recovered from that.

Re: Intercity Bus travel reviews

Travelled between Digha and Kolkata and upon booking a "Volvo" service to be operated by well known and large Volvo operator Shyamoli, got this Eicher Coach based on its 6016 Chassis with a Volvo logo plastered on it. For the price premium that I had paid to travel in a Volvo and expecting anything between a B7R to a B9R, this felt highly misleading and infuriating to see.

Focussing on the bus itself, this newly launched Eicher Coach is most likely a result of the Eicher group wholly acquiring Volvo Bus India. OEM components such as the Harita Seats (Similar to the ones shown in the 9600 Coach preview), AC vents, and infact even something as trivial as the "Emergency Exit" stickers on the window are directly taken from the 9400's - whilst the bus is built in Volvo's factory in Karnataka. This has all the potential to be highly competitive as a fully end-to-end factory built AC bus in the fragmented non-Volvo/Scania space. It is fairly comfortable and legroom is also satisfactory. Negatives mainly included that the AC cooling was very average, which led to a few co-passengers complaining and the fact that it was a front engined bus with much lower noise insulation levels. All the components seemed well built and fit (This may also be as the bus was barely a month old) and I could imagine taking a trip of around 150-200 kms in it, provided one would pay a proportionate price for it (and not a Volvo price).

However, coming to the entire issue itself - this cannot replace a Volvo B8R or a B9R for any distance of a journey. The Eicher Coach can however stand well in the segment below. My fear is that, especially following the acquisition of the Swedish brand in India, there will slowly be a thinner than usual line between an actual Volvo and an alliance built Eicher Coach.

On a side note - Had raised a concern on tbis with the aggregator I had booked the tickets from. However, within 12 hours of raising the ticket, the aggregator closed the ticket themselves without any communication, intervention or action.

If one had travelled in their buses will really come to know their customer service, which was arrogant to non existent, you had booked or taken the bus, shut sit and go was their attitude, They were almost running paraller govt transport corporation, now with most buses standing in petrol pumps rusting, those arrogant drivers now had to taste their medicine working in other travels with their foul mouth shut, only if they had did it earlier, would have been much better for the organisation itself

KPN restarted their operations within Tamilnadu today. Hope they will learn from the past mistakes and offer better services.

This is so wonderful to hear. Thank you. I have been a patron of their services since I was a toddler. The blue, red, white paint scheme back on the road makes me nostalgic.

Here's hoping they are as successful as in their first innings

Re: Intercity Bus travel reviews

Most of the BMTC buses i have travelled, during the evening, night or early morning, the saloon lights they switch on only for one side, why this arrangement, the bus interior will be brighter when both sides lights are on. What they save from this, the battery expenses, the interior lights last twice longer. Always have a fear factor for travelling in dark.

They usually do that to reduce glare on the front windscreen - its usually the driver side lights that are switched on. The driver partition helps reduce glare from these lights.

Re: Intercity Bus travel reviews

Is there a direct bus service between Belgavi and Nashik? I see a KSRTC with its Airavat Club Class but that is not an AC sleeper. The other one is an SRS, AC sleeper Volvo.

I am not aware of SRS, their driving style, if they overspeed, etc. My parents would be travelling and therefore I'd like to know if I should proceed with booking SRS tickets.

Airavat club class has very good recline and is comfortable, driven responsibly. Don't hesitate.

Re: Review: Mumbai to Bengaluru by Karnataka SRTC Ambaari Dream Class | A long time dream comes true

KSRTC conductor helps catch two thieves who booked tickets in Airavata Club Class bus to repeat crime after four months

Quote:
an alert conductor of the corporation, Ashok Jadhav, managed to catch two thieves who had booked tickets on an Airavat Club Class bus and were observing the movements of other passengers after boarding the bus at Majestic bus stand. Interestingly, the same thieves had stolen gold valuables and cash from a passenger four months ago by travelling in a bus from Bengaluru to Mangaluru.
