Good old KSRTC "Super Delux" buses

Hey folks i have been a big fan of the KSRTC "Super Delux" buses, which were in use 10-15 years back...if am not wrong they had a color combo of pista green and off white..

I have no idea about the engine specs, remember that the buses youe to sound great and as far as my memory goes i dont remember traveling in a badly maintained bus, altleast most were well kept..also they had a good leg room..

I feel the "Rajahamsa" is no comparison for those buses..

Anyone having more info/pictures of those buses please do share with me....

Thanks guys

I remember those. My brother was working in bangalore that time & he never missed an opportunity to travel in one of those. They had Hino engines. Looked very dowdy from the outside but pretty clean & comfortable on the inside.

No pictures, but do remember the glass area on the cabin separator having designs etched on them. And there was a drinking water tank too (with the glass chained to it ). The body shell was again, mostly done by Azad, and the rest were from KSRTC's own workshop.

Lohith,

Why dont you write to KSRTC directly? They'll definitely have some that they can share with you.

Firstly am happy that the Buses/Trucks gets a separate section

Am getting this thread active again as my hunt to find the good old KSRTC Luxury buses pics dint give me any result:(

Had written a mail to "KSRTC" as expected dint receive any response from them.

I think the first automobile which i fell in love with was these buses...

SO my hunt still goes on...

The main reason ,now nobody had pictures of our earlier super delux buses is because Digicams were not available that time. The earlier roll cameras was a pain. Even i miss those deluxe buses especially the route from Coorg to Mangalore

The day I became a KSRTC fan was when I came to know that they offer IRCTC styled ticket booking !

Online Booking + Airavath is a killer combination. I know its OT, but could not help writing about it.

Meanwhile I have seen quite a few TATA Marco Polos recently in Bangalore. Are there KSRTC plans to induct them ? Or they are already there and I don't know about it.

@crazy driver, not that pic. The bus seen in the pic you posted is a regular mofussil, no-frills bus with the standard 3+2 bench seats and flat back-support.

green, This is not green but blue

Lately in Kerala we can see the come back of good old K(e)SRTC 'Super Express' buses. These have a very basic bodywork and basic seats and painted in dark green and off-yellow. These buses operate on very long routes which have a private Volvo monopoly now. I can't think of spending a whole night traveling inside such a bus, I'd rather drive.

Do Anyone remember about Kerala KSRTC's Super Express Interstate Buses painted in Light Blue and the kinds(IIRC).Still remember these buses parked at Ernakulam KSRTC Stand ready for Bangalore services Circa 1990s.

further off topic. Dad recalls the story about an even 'faster' KeSRTC Lightning express which was introduced, and had a puncture on the first day. Kind of became a laughing stock, and was discontinued shortly afterwards
